I watch waaay too much House Hunters. Since I got my U-Verse DVR, that thing has basically become a House Hunters box (I download most other crap so I don't have to fast forward commercials).
I'm enjoying those programs as well, but it would be nice to see someone with less than $500,000 to spend on a second home. That said, European home prices are insane!
Yeah, I always wonder where they get these twentysomething couples who have a "budget" of $300,000.
Well, I've got exactly one year left on my 20s and could put down 20% and probably afford the 240k mortgage. Unfortunately around here that doesn't get you an actual house. Maybe a decent 2 bed condo in a decent neighborhood. If I could get hitched to a female version of me, then I guess I'd be cooking!

So yeah, sometimes you see people looking at 300+k shit holes on that show, and that would be me at the moment.
Or better yet, a single who wants a place with four bedrooms.
Hey now, I wouldn't mind 4, though I'd probably shoot for 3. The problem is, if I could help it, I'd rather buy one house and stick with it the rest of my days. So I would want some room to grow. Also, around these parts basements don't exist... SoCal homes are the natural enemy of a computer dude who wants a man cave and home theater in a not $1 million house.
I'd really love to see some people in some less wealthy areas.
When I buy a house next year, it's going to cost about $75,000. That's just how much stuff costs in my area. "Income Property" is actually my favorite show right now because it shows more average people looking to make some extra cash to offset their mortgage.
Maybe in a couple of years I'll ditch the coast and just buy a place in the middle of nowhere outright
I don't really like Income Property. McGillivray has the most grating Canadian accent I've ever heard. Drives me nuts. And every episode is the exact same shit. He always babbles endlessly about legal bedroom windows, fire protection and being zoned properly, he always uses the same affordable but durable materials so they can milk the property for a long time without renovating. And that's fine, I mean, that's what you'd do, but it makes for fucking boring TV after a couple of episodes. And then he always lowballs the estimate of how much rental income they'll get so they can fawn over the actual rate! And it seems like all the houses he's doing are in the same 5 mile radius. Yeah, I'm burnt out on that!
Holmes on Homes is pretty good, he's actually doing different stuff episode to episode, his "How could they do this to a family" schtick is great. He's Canadian too, I believe, but his accent doesn't make me want to kill myself.
Property Virgins and My First Place are OK. They generally show less-spoiled people buying homes, but the production isn't as slick as on House Hunters. The host on Property Virgins (I think) is damned annoying too.
I kind of like House Hunters International spoiled people in a 'where to move if I win the lottery' kind of way. St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands is currently in the lead.
