I have officially become a reptile

OK, I've been sick for a little while now and I've been checking my temperature every day and it was around normal, so I knew I didn't have a fever. I checked it a minute ago and it was 93.7. At what point does it become too low and I should be worried?

That is freakishly low. But before you freak out - because I can't really believe that it would be that low and you not feel really wretched (or worse than wretched) - you might want to simply get a new thermometer and - forgive me for saying something so obvious - make sure you are using it correctly. Ask at the pharmacy counter for recommendations on a good one.

I hadn't considered that it was the thermometer's fault. It's a Walgreens thermometer, so that's certainly within the realm of possibility. I've had a nasty cough for about a week, so I can't say I feel healthy, but I certainly don't feel that bad. I checked just now and it's at 96, so that's a bit more within range (it was what the thermometer said my temperature was at yesterday).

Considering the onset of hypothermia is at 96ºF, I'd say firstly that the 93 reading was BS and I'd be a bit concerned about a 96 reading - unless you are feeling awful, I'd still say your thermometer is wonky. If it isn't, get yourself to hospital.

Thremo is probably broken. But I wonder if your not drinking or eating something with minutes of taking your temp. You should probably wait a good 15-20 minutes after eating or drinking something to take your temperature.

I'd also say a core temperature reading is more accurate than an oral one, but...

He'd have to have an... "impressive" thermo to get anything out of a core-temp like that.

Don't worry, Alidar. Whenever I wake up, my temperature never reads heh. It reads as 0. They don't know why.
