I have got quite a weekend ahead of me

What about the novelization by V. McIntyre (in which Spock's coffin is said to burn up during descent)? That had no "II," of course - but why wasn't it changed as well? Or was "II" added in later printings?

The book covers were already printed. The "II" was only added to the internal booklists, but many of Vonda's little additions were tweaked for accuracy in the more recent "Signature Edition" omnibus of STs II, III and IV. ie. the corrected spelling of McGivers, and Sulu is now being promoted to commander, not captain (which actually ends up meaning that Chekov has surpassed him in rank at some point).

I like TMP. The only kind of complaint i have is them flying around enterprise for 23 minutes. I loved every minute of it, i just felt like it dragged on FOREVER.

Only slightly OT: Did anyone else catch this exchange on BIG BANG THEORY last night?

"Have you seen Star Trek: The Motion Picture?"

"No."

"Don't. It's terrible."

Ouch!

Yes, I saw it and enjoyed it, even though I like TMP. I liked that Sheldon explained Kolinar to his girl friend and then he used it to suppress his emotions when she insulted Star Trek.

It has come up before on Big Bang Theory. Sheldon has said in a previous episode that he disliked TMP and yet he liked TFF, admitting that TFF only had some small problems in comparison to TMP which he felt had major problems (in his opinion).

LOKAI of CHERON;4575599 Totally disagree said:
does not[/B] equal bad - it's actually quite refreshing to just sit and appreciate such a finely crafted piece.

Get the Blu-ray, turn the lights off, pump up the sound, no distractions and immerse yourself in this outstanding film.

And when you get bored, pop out for run to the store. Get some dinner. Walk the dog. When you get back you won't have missed anything.

But I don't get bored at all - I love every second. I probably would get bored if I kept trumpeting the same crappy, lame old jokes and tired critiques everybody's heard a million times though.

I Have to say one thing: STAR TREK 3 IS THE GREATEST TREK MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love hearing that. It's my favorite of the 11, and I'm usually the only guy the room who feels that way. Nice to thave someone to stand next to now.

Did they change any of the instances she has the characters saying "oh my gods" and that stuff? That never really felt right, like suddenly everyone worshipped the Greek gods or something.
