I hated the Q character but

I liked Q, but I can absolutely do without DS9s Mirror Universe episodes. Honestly, if the use of the mirror universe concept had ended with the original "Mirror, Mirror", very little of value would be lost. And I say this as someone who regards DS9 as the best Star Trek show; DS9's use of the Mirror Universe has been by far my least favorite depiction of it. Just blech! :ack:

It definitely deteriorated over time.

Thing I remember most is how epically STUPID Smiley was... in "Shattered Mirror", Sisko tried to bring Chief O'Brien (i.e. the one person who probably knew the Defiant just as well or better than Sisko did) along with him. Smiley left him behind. If he hadn't been a frickin' idiot, he'd have left a note on the transporter widget saying "Bring my counterpart along with you, love and kisses, Smiley".

For that matter, an exact duplicate of the Intendant might have been useful as well, for some skullduggery or other.

If Smiley and Bashir, who hadn't been genetically enhanced and was probably dumb as a post, were what the Rebellion had as leaders, I doubt it survived long. They probably wound up flying their Defiant into a random asteroid.
