I hated the Q character but

I was never of the mindset to have hated Q. He was always a character to challenge the crew, put them in difficult situations, so that they may learn. Brutal lessons sure, but lessons nevertheless.

I hate Q too tbh. I generally dislike omnipotent characters/reality benders. Plus, I think he's annoying. Though tbf while I dislike all his episodes to some degree, I only think his Voyager appearances are absolutely abysmal.
I any case, I'm glad he only appeared once on DS9

I like Q!

One of my five favorites of Startrek which you can see in the picture below! :techman:

To be honest, I would have liked to see more of him in DS9. It would have been great to see him show up in some more episodes.

DS9 was already making itself distinct from TNG and also had plenty of crossover characters. Q was the latest and, apart from having Vash look all icky to show us yet again that DS9 would not be like TNG, why do yet another character crossover? How many more characters were really needed to show up conveniently? After how Bashir was wandering around in Birthright and Geordi dumb enough to let him plug any old mystery device into the flagship's plug-in that's right next to the warp core and all so let's hope that it really is a medical gizmo based on Bashir's brilliant(ly stupid non-)observation, it wasn't exactly the best of starts...

Count me in as another Q hater. As much as I love TNG, Encounter at Farpoint is my least favorite Trek pilot episode by quite some margin, and the only reason for that is the appearance of Q. TOS doesn't really have one, and I've seen TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VGR, ENT, and PIC so far.

I dislike omnipotent characters in general, and Q was only tolerable in the TNG episode where he was temporarily mortal and the PIC episodes where it looked like he was losing his omnipotence for a while.

So I'm definitely relieved that Q only appeared in one DS9 episode, but I must admit I think it's one episode too many.

Given his sheer power as a potential deus ex machina, it's hard to find suitable stories for him sometimes. Especially on Voyager.

Q’s fine, but they overplayed him in terms of repeated experiences.

They should have left him as a TNG thing I think. He doesn’t add much to the one DS9 episode he’s in. As far as VOY goes, he just adds fuel to the argument that the show was a TNG retread.

I love Q and I love how little they used him. I really love how there's a line you can draw from "Encounter at Farpoint" to "Q-Less" (if you skip over "True Q") for how his appearances ripple on from the last one.
I'm probably one of the few that think he could have even worked on Enterprise somehow, but as a TNG-era Q visiting the past, but I'd limit him to some Temporal Cold War shenanigans or something. Or maybe not. I dunno.
