I hate "The Assignment"

Put me in the group that liked it. The Evil Keiko gave me a nightmare (remember I wasn't even a teen when that episode aired).

This isn't one of my favorites but it works well as a Torture O'Brien [TM] episode IMHO. Some of the scenes with the possessed Keiko are really nasty.

I recently rewatched this and found it actually benefits quite a bit from what was to come: This is the first strike in the confrontation between the Wraiths and the Prophets that we know of. It certainly showed what the Wraiths were capable of.

I like it. Evil Keiko is a blast to watch. Not sure why people like "The Reckoning". Honestly, the duel between Jake and Kira on the promenade is one of the cheesiest things the show ever did. :wtf:

The one think I personally like about that battle is how you can that the "vessels" are suffering - as well as Sisko who effectively puts his son's life on the line.

^
That doesn't make it any less vague, cartoony, or ridiculous. "The Assignment" has an Invasion of the Body Snatchers 'creepiness' about the arrangement that in "The Reckoning" is reduced to lame pyrotechnics.

Is this the one with Evil Keiko?

It would have gained considerable kudos with me if the alien had actually killed Keikole.....

I agree.

Keiko is easily my least favorite DS9 character.

Whine, whine, whine.... No wonder Miles spent all that time with Julian...doing...well, just about ANYTHING.

I can see why people don't like it. However, it never really bothered me. I think it's one of those things where you actually DECIDE you like and / or don't mind something.

As opposed to what, exactly? People decide all the time whether they like something or not. Taste and all that.

As opposed to simply liking or disliking something or someone without making a more or less conscious decision.

I find there are things that I've disliked for a long time without ever really having decided I disliked them. But at some point, I decided I liked them among other things because it was more fun.

I really love this episode.

And I have never understood the hatred of Keiko. I always loved when her character got to make an appearance.

Finally! And I thought I was the only one. :) The hatred of Keiko, unlike the hatred of the Ferengi, is truly inexplicable. She's a good character and an excellent compliment to Miles.

I love Rom!!

And, I don't HATE Keiko. I just find her character annoying sometimes. Like, I said before. I don't mind her when she's in a good mood...

To be extremely shallow, this was the episode where it suddenly dawned on me what a hottie Keiko is.Yes I'm that shallow and I'm lovin' it!

I noticed that when she was on MASH.

I love Rom, too. Keiko is annoying sometimes, but I thought Rosalind Chao did a great job in "The Assignment". I thought it was a really great episode....and I also liked "The Reckoning".

But then again, I'm one of those happy-go-lucky fans who find something likeable in nearly any episode or movie (well, except for that TOS one with the psycho kiddies and the fat bloke in the moomoo. It had a creepy title, too...).

"And the Children Shall Lead." The 'fat bloke' was actually a lawyer. Don't ask me what he was doing there...

Charging a lot of money for every 15 minutes or part thereof, I would expect.

Now, hating ROM I can understand. I don't hate him, but I sure do find him annoying more often than not!
