I don't quite get it.

I can only speak for myself, but I came for discussing Star Trek (Enterprise specifically, embarrassing as that may be, considering the show was really kind of shit), and stayed for the community.

We discuss all sorts of things on here. Just visit the various sub-forums to see what sort of topics we discuss.

That's what I don't really see the point of, Star Trek has been off the air nearly 10 years now. And the last movie came out last year. It would seem that any discussions on Star Trek have already been done. I was looking through some of the discussions and they all seem to be the same conversations over and over, or "Caption This" type of thing. Unless a new series comes out, as the Q said, it's all been said and done.

:)

In fairness, the Treklit forums have a lot of new material to obsess about, arguments about the last two movies are still relatively fresh, and the non Trek threads are entertaining, especially in The Neutral Zone.

It's a great community...

I've said before that it's Trek that brought me here, but it isn't Trek that's kept me here. I rarely if ever venture into the Trek forums any more. Most of the liveliest discussion is taking place in the Genreal Sci Fi, TV, Misc, or Neutral Zone forums, and those are where I live.

Whilst a new Trek show might not have been out for a decade or so, we have the new films, ST is still shown around the world we still get new people to the world of ST.

We have new Sci-Fi shows which come out every year other Sci-Fi/fantasy films, there is the DW sub-forum for a show that is currently in production. A place were we can talk about anything else on TV or cinema/DVD/BR, Music, a Misc. sub-forum to chat about the weather, even politics (provided it's kept cordial)

Like a couple others above, I came for Star Trek and stayed for the community. I still read some of the Trek posts, but rarely comment. I mostly post here in Miscellaneous.

Welcome.

There are always people discovering new things about Trek and wanting to discuss them over in the actual Trek forums. It's only natural that various topics are repeated in time if they're started by different people (the mods would rather posters start a new thread about an old topic rather than resurrect an old thread that had been dead for several years).

But there are plenty of forums to talk about stuff other than Trek.

If you've dealt with me for the almost 8 years I've been here and stuck around then there's got to be some sort of crazy gene :p

There are all sorts of engaging and wild discussion topics on this board. Many deal with Star Trek, a lot don't. Even so, there are 726 television episodes of Trek and 12 theatrical films - that's a lot of continuing discussion fodder now matter how old or recent an episode or film may be.

Trek's still alive. Just because there hasn't been a new TV episode in nine years (tonight's the 9th anniversary of "Terra Prime" and "These Are the Voyages..." and the end of Enterprise) and the last new movie was a year ago doesn't mean much if anything. Trek has a million different things to discuss and there's always something interesting to point out and spar over. Any franchise this old and enormous rarely if ever gets too old or depleted of ideas for conversations.

Also, there's free pizza and cold drinks. If you know who to talk to.
