I'll take my bow now. When I was writing the OP, I really didn't know if I should provide a link or not but I didn't want to make it obvious that it was tongue-in-cheek nor did I want people to think I was plagerizing so I decided to put the reference in my post but hide it and hope no one noticed for a while. Worked better than I though because even after it was noticed, people didn't take the time to read the other posts.

The really funny thing is, after I posted it, I realised, I don't actually own a television! In the three places I've lived after moving out after high school, the cable was provided free (or at least was included in the rent) and someone else provided the tv.

I don't own a tv and don't plan on getting one -- in this day and age a computer is enough. TV shows can be freely watched at the network website or hulu or with other methods. I couldn't imagine paying a monthly cable / satellite bill or wasting the floorspace on a tv / home entertainment system which would be redundent with my computer.

However I do watch a myriad of tv shows.

Reading this thread, I kept wondering how people who have reached the rank of Vice Admiral or Rear Admiral on this board could go this long without noticing this was meant as humor.

Then I realized that's probably how they reached the rank of Vice Admiral: instantly replying without taking the time to read the thread or think about the OP for more than 2-3 seconds.
