I Don't Like Him, But...

Actually, the reason I didn't like her on TNG was none of the above. I didn't like that she was an interloper. Maybe introducing her was "realistic", insofar as things on Star Trek can be, since she was supposed to be some sort of "Borg expert" - I don't know, and I don't really care. All I knew was that somehow here was this stranger getting a completely undeserved leg up on Data - and especially the first viewing, when I had no idea how permanent this was going to be, I found that utterly unacceptable.

In a way, I had a quite similar feeling any time some rarely or never-before-seen Admiral was bossing Picard around .... especially if the character didn't seem too sympathetic, like Nechayev ;) I even had the feeling with "admiral" Janeway (even though I'd seen enough of her ;) )

Plus, there's just no way I could see her being more "expert" on the Borg than a cybernetic being that had been at pretty much every encounter the Federation had had with the Borg.

Perhaps no more "expert" but perhaps no less, either. She would have been someone who studied the Borg for the past 6 months as her main daily occupation. She would have been at the nexus of all Starfleet intelligence regarding the Borg. That would no doubt have included all intelligence gathered by the ENT-D, and perhaps quite a bit more (including intelligence from other species). So I would think it's quite possible she gained some insights the ent-D crew simply hadn't. And the crew would have some hands-on experience she simply hadn't. Hence she would probably still be the best possible complement to the crew under these circumstances.

I don't like NuKirk but he is very easy on the eye and they do get him into his undies at least once per film.

I don't like Lursa and Be'tor. They're both annoying self-righteous power hungry twits.
I don't like Selar either.
I did like Jellico, Ronnie Cox did great as a hardass captain who was expecting - and projecting - full military readiness on a somewhat soft crew. In no way should he have been written as the villain of the show.

Jellico should have brought Shelby on board with him with the episodes concluding with the crew looking more the worse for wear than Picard!

I didn't like Neelix, but I liked that he was essentially a normal guy trying to contribute on a ship full of experts with highly advanced technology (when all else fails, cook).

Say what you will about Jellico, but HE saw the potential in Data.

He's easy on just ONE eye? What'd he do to the other? ;)

Jellico was cool. In fact, I'm all for getting Jellico, Shelby and Commander Kurn together to whip the lazybones on Picard's lackadaisical leisure liner back into shape.

No more "Earl grey", "prune juice or "chocolate sundaes" or any of that madness. Think more water, gruel and porridge.

The other eye is reserved for Quinto.

Oh, speaking of which, I'm not completely sold on NuSpock, but I do like Quinto's dedication to the role.

I don't like Wesley Crusher, but... um, I can't think of anything positive. I guess I failed at this thread. :(

I don't like Troi, but she was mildly amusing and less irritating than usual in First Contact (the movie).

I agree entirely. With the last sentence. My eyes are reserved for Gaila and Leeta, respectively, where Trek is concerned. :)

I don't like Seven because she dominated VOY for pretty much every other episode after she was taken on board but I liked her strength of character and how she learned to accept her humanity.

I don't like Harcourt Fenton Mudd, but at least he had Stella putting a stick up his ass for part of his miserable existence. :)
