I don't know how I feel about Torchwood

It's been about a year since I watched the first season of Torchwood, and while I was occasionally intrigued, I must say that I found most of it very underwhelming.

Anyway, I got bored and decided to watch Season 2. I'm about halfway through (I just watched "Reset"). Some thoughts...

1) I hate Captain Jack. He has to be one of the most inconsistent characters I've ever seen. One day he's in love with you. The next day he's threatening to kill you. The next day he's mopey and being tortured by his past. He makes Captain Janeway look boring. His mood is random, almost as if he were bipolar.

2) Aside from Tosh and Yanto (sp?), all of the actors have weird-looking faces.

3) Is everybody bisexual? I'm not sure that's normal...

If Owen is really dead, that's lame. It was not an exciting death. It was like a Tasha Yar death. I thought we were past that.

Keep with the season. What they do with Owen is very interesting (at least, I thought so).

Torchwood is hit and miss and largely miss. If it wasn't a Doctor Who spin-off I'd never watch RTD's Sex Fantasies on TV (which is what it basically boils down to).

S1 was largely crap. S2 was better (but that wasn't hard to achieve). The abbreviated S3 however was pretty good though.

There may be spoilers here, I guess.

The first season was mostly horrible. As I've said in other posts, it was like children suddenly discovering they can say the "f" word, and so they use it every other word. Everyone is on hormone overload, and everybody is having sex with everyone else, including the aliens of the week. There was nothing "Doctor Who-ish" about it, except for the last few seconds of the season, which synced up with the Utopia three-parter at the end of DW season 3.

Season 2 started out a tiny bit better ... They've grown up a bit. I still couldn't stand the Asian guy ... Owen? .. whoever. He's a giant douche, in all but one of his episodes (the one I can stand is "Adam").

But then an episode came along, completely out of nowhere. It's called "Meat" ... Stupid name, I thought. But I watched it. And it did for the Torchwood team what "Day of the Dead" did for Lochley in Babylon 5 - It made them real. They finally grew into their rolls, they (mostly) grew up, and the writing improved dramatically.

Season 3 was leaps and bounds better than the second half of season 2, which itself was leaps and bounds better than what preceded it.

It all depends on how much you can take.

Another thing ... You asked if everyone was bisexual. No, they're not. They're omnisexual. They will fuck anything that moves. Male, female, human, or otherwise.

Gwen, despite her make-out session with Carys in "Day One," is straight.

Ianto's sexuality is a little more complicated. There's a good conversation about it in "Children of Earth: Day One."

Everyone else? Yeah. Omnisexual is the right word.

I actually really liked how they shot Owen. It's hard to do that kind of sudden death kill-off and make it feel effective (while simultaneously not pissing me off). I really felt it when he died.

The occasional episode is ok, maybe even good. CoE is brilliant-ish.

The majority of it is a bit on the nose though..

RoJo, you haven't seen CoE yet? Dude, you're missing something! Let us knw what you think when you've seen it.

That aside, s1 is pants, s2 is a huge improvement and still not great, s3(CoE) is great. Great TW, great SF, great TV.

Don't know about Owen being Asian, but he SURE IS an annoying and ugly fucker.

Come on UK casting agents, you aren't helping my argument that most English men are ugly and pale!!!

Owen, Asian?! what show have you been watching, man?!?!?!

It took me two seasons just to figure out which one was Gwen. For the first season, especially, I just didn't care who was who. And the writers didn't give me a reason to care. So yes. He has looks Asian. So there.

What the fuck are you on, he looks in no way Asian...

What's the diff?
Bi means they go both ways, omni means they'll go with anything, including aliens...

Oh. Aliens. Right, I forgot....

and seemingly from what Captain John said, poodles.
The hell? :wtf: If these people fuck animals, then I'm glad I don't watch.
Nobody fucked a dog, John just appeared to be sexually attracted to one when they were driving down the street.
He was commenting on the woman and understanding why Jack stays on Earth when he saw something and Gwen said it was a poodle.

Still sounds really sick. Bestiality shouldn't even be joked about, IMHO.

Guess I'm not adventurous enough to enjoy a show like this...fine. I get that. :p

I hold the opinion that anything can be joked about, if it's not funny it's a bad joke, nothing more.
Try series 3 at least even if you don't watch the rest.
