Re: I don't care anymore, and nobody else cares (that I don't)
We don't yet know that it isn't being done well and intelligently. I don't feel talked down to at all, and I'm quite surprised that anyone does. How do you conclude this?the recent photos and EW article confirm what I've suspected most about this film and about JJ's involvement: No one involved in this film believes in any part of "Star Trek," from the original to it's later spin-offs.
They've gone out of their way to make this look nothing like any version of Star Trek. I'd be surprised if everything else were the same.
I would assume that it's for marketing purposes. I don't see anything wrong with that. I also don't see anything wrong with you skipping this movie if it offends you. I chose not to go to the theaters to see Nemesis, so I know how you feel, but I plan on seeing this one on the big screen. Why bother with keeping any of the tropes of the original (humanoid aliens, "clean" sets and vehicle design, colored tunics, miniskirts) when you outright claim that this isn't going to be anything like what has come before, except in "spirit?"
Why do you outright proclaim that this "isn't for Star Trek fans" and is instead for "movie fans?"
---------------
I want to see Trek done well and intelligently. I just don't want it packaged in the same way as everything else in an attempt to be "modern." I don't want to be talked down to by the people who depend on my support of this film.
I'm glad you appear to understand this. Like the title says, nobody else cares.
