I don't care anymore, and neither does anyone else.

Re: I don't care anymore, and nobody else cares (that I don't)

Nobody here knows for sure what we've seen is the way things really are.

I feel, and I mean this in a good way, I am a victim of a brilliant marketing scheme which is doing exactly as intended; drum up unprecedented Trek 11 publicity.

Plus, I've got a feeling that there's an in-story reason it is so different from the classic TOS bridge. Maybe Old Spock isn't back in time "setting things right", but intentionally fucking with the established timeline, so as to prevent some truly cataclysmic future event?

This could be true. Though of a shuttlecraft, this image of controls in it are as far removed from what we see in the new bridge shot as night and day.

Something more than meets the eye is going on.

When my friend Randy who has "zero interest" when it comes to Star Trek expressed excitement and interest in watching this film last December, that is a telling sign that there is a larger, mainstream public out there willing to watch this film, rather than it being limited to and only pandering to the fans.

If the characters and story are well-written and well-developed for a studio blockbuster film, I will be more than happy. I would rather have J.J. Abrams's film bring in a new generation of fans than anything Rick Berman produced in the last 9 years.
