I am updating the ST Encyclopedia

Does this updated Ency include the cartoons? Okuda's didn't, but the animated series seems to get more (deserving, imo) respect nowadays - Memory Alpha includes them and STXI's Young Spock stuff was based on "Yesteryear".

Memory Alpha is run by a bunch of twits and jackholes. I say good luck on your venture and as a fellow encyclopedist (I am doing starships, stations, and shuttlecraft from all the books, video games, comics, live-action, and cartoon) It is a lot of work, but fun.

Hey, that's uncalled for! MA is the best, most carefully documented and researched "canon only" Trek reference on the web.

By the way, there are several mentions here of material not covered in the blog entries that I can find, and the other thread mentions "previews"...is there anywhere I can find this additional material?

I have a complete PDF of material for A-M, though I haven't posted the whole thing anywhere. I'll make it available once the whole thing is done.

It maybe striving for that, but MA is still run by a bunch of jackholes and twits. I have such a poor taste in my mouth from my MA experience in that I don't go there at all.

Maybe you just ran into the wrong mod or caught someone on a bad day. Even when I vehemently disagreed with a decision over there, I never got the sense they were jacking me around.

And the information is first rate and, given their rules, VERY reliable.

^^ But you can't really read it on the can (MA)... and at the end of the day, isn't that what really matters? :D

My phone lets me read Memory Alpha on the toilet.

Not that I'd admit to doing something like that :shifty:.

Sod it: I've done it before and I'll do it again!! :klingon:

See that's why I won't get a Smart phone, I'd never get off the damn thing.

I've taken my lap top into the bathroom with me before. Is this just a Dan thing or an English thing or both?

I think this project is unique because it's one person's labor of love, as Dennis put it, and the blog format allows for a personal and more flexible approach than a published book or a committee-run website. I for one don't really care one rat's ass which uniform was worn by whom in which canon; what makes this fun is that there really is no reason to do it beyond having fun, and Cronos is clearly having a great time. It's also a huge and beautifully designed undertaking, the guy clearly has some talent. I look forward to following his progress!

If there was ever an updated and complete version of the ST encyclopedia (in print!) I would definitely buy it. I loved the old edition I had and it's just fun to browse through the articles. Same goes for the OP's blog. Now if only that were a real book!
