I’m slightly bored, and a podcast mentioning the 251st Trek release, TNG’s Aqueil, had me charting the official serialized fictional releases counts…

Okay, current full length, and live action Television/Streaming episode totals

Next Gen (87/88-93/94) is still the clubhouse leader with 7 seasons and 176 episodes

DS9 (93-98/99) was good for second with 173 episodes spanning its 7 seasons

Voyager (95-00/01) rounds out the Century club with 168 episodes, also in 7 seasons

Enterprise (01/02-04/05) with 97 episodes and 4 seasons means it edges out

The Classic’s (66/67-68/69) 79 episodes in 3 seasons, and including the restored original pilot, The Cage, that was put into the syndication package in 1988

Discovery (2017/2018-2024) follows that with 65 episodes in its 5 seasons

This coming 4th season of Strange New Worlds (2022-2027) pushes their total to 40, for some reason its 5th and final season on Memory Alpha lists the episode count as 6 🤷🏻‍♂️ Guess more to be added? Maybe? In any event, 46 is the overall total

Picard (2020-2023) follows with 30 episodes over 3 seasons

And finally Star Fleet Academy’s (2026-2027) final season next year will have the full compliment of 10 episodes, meaning 20 episodes over 2 seasons.

Combined Episode count, including last 10 of SFA and 16 for SNW, for all 9 programs,

855!

Now time for the Animated shows count

The original (1973-1974) had 22 episodes covering 2 seasons

Lower Decks (2020-2024) finished up with 50 episodes in 5 seasons

And Prodigy (21/22-2024) had 40 episodes through 2 seasons

Which makes for 112 episodes of officially released animated Trek

Guess I can keep the post going with the officially released short subject fiction pieces

Its on Memory Alpha, so I guess it counts as an official release, there is a 2003 animated Klingon short called “The Young Hunter” under a “Fables and Folklore” banner. I’m guess the project never got much attention, and steam.

But series that did include
Scouts (2025-2026), which appears to be an animated kid friendly Nickelodeon show, and I just glanced at the episode title and airdate table to know what its future holds, but its 20 episodes over 2 seasons

Short Treks (2018-2019) ran for 2 seasons and 10 episodes, which was followed by

Very Short Treks (2023) which just lasted 5 episodes

That’s 36 episodes between those 4 shows

Okay, 36, 112, 855 brings the televised/streamed episodic fiction content to 1,003!

Watchable is debatable. Probably half of it is watchable. ;)
Ehem [Spock Voice] There is of course logic in this statement.

But the literal definition of “watchable” is “can one access this content.

Not “can one watch this content without the aid of mind altering substances and/or the desire to watch it in a similar vein of, lets say, Mystery Science Theatre 3,000. Wherein, you’d be having a good time mocking the content you are watching![/Spock Voice] 🖖🏻

Season 4 has not aired yet. However, they are done and in the can. Right now you're counting episodes before they air.

Season 5 almost didn't happen and was reduced to 6 episodes to wrap up the series.

I know, I say that in my last post that I’m including SNW 4&5, and SFA 2.

Any word on more episodes of Nickelodeon’s Scouts series?

All the Berman era shows' counts are slightly off, and I know why.

The double length episodes (TNG, DS9, and VOY pilots and finales, ENT pilot, etc.) are actually TWO episodes. Not only according to production codes, but also they are split into two parters for syndication.

So the real total for all the series is:

TOS - 80, which is including "THE CAGE" pilot
TAS - 22
TNG - 178
DS9 - 176
VOY - 172
ENT - 98
DISCO - 65
PICARD - 30
LDS - 50
PRODIGY - 40
SNW - 46, which is including the upcoming seasons 4 and 5
SFA - 20, which is including the upcoming season 2

Total - 977 episodes

Counting all the 14 movies, and we get 991.

If you want to include SHORT TREKS and VERY SHORT TREKS (I don't simply because they are more supplemental material/bonus features than actual episodes, especially VERY SHORT TREKS), that's 15 more and giving us a total of 1,006.
