I’m enjoying weekly Trek again.

I'm still kinda in this surreal land of "Is this real life"? "Is Star Trek really back on TV?" "What is this I feel? I think it's joy" ....

and i'm gonna have a Nerd Stroke if they start announcing other series, mini-series, tele-movies.

Yeah, it's fun. I held off getting CBS All Access because how many channels do I wish to pay for? But OK, they got me for the Trek.

I've resigned myself to the fact that modern Trek will have some aspects I don't like, such as Mission Impossible stunts and Jason Bourne fighting. Shrug, I won't nitpick, it is what is it, accept it and move along. As for the dark style, I can take it or leave it. Since I have it, I will take it. I do quite enjoy one of the main non-Trek things, that is making somebody besides the captain the person that the camera follows most. That is a refreshing change; it helps when crafting new stories.

I'm just glad I can get Discovery on netflick, from what I'm hearing CBS All Access seem overprice.

I for one am enjoying weekly Trek again. Massively.

Yes, there are some things I haven't liked. Georgiou's early exit. Sec. chief acting stupidly. The absurdidity of leaving the two ships adrift for 6 months at the binary stars. Still, plot holes & characters acting rashly are not unknown in the Trek verse.

But it has been well acted. Is visually really cool. I like that the captain isn't the lead. I don't mind that it is a tad dark. It is war, after all.

First time on Trek board. Been surprised at some of the vitriol a lot of 'fans' have towards STD and various other Trek incarnations. There is no one type of Trek.

I can see the Klingons leaving that funeral ship for 6 months because they are not united and just a head up once the war is over, Starfleet probably just abandon that ship as it was old and repairing the ship is a waste of resources.

I have been loving seeing Star Trek as a regular series again as well.

So far, I am liking this only second to TOS. Thank God we have a real Captain again and not some sensitive metrosexual with children on the bridge and a counselor as a bridge officer.

I've been disappointed by Discovery so far, but I'm really happy to have weekly Trek back. And there are elements that are really good -- even great. So fingers crossed the storytelling improves as we go along.
Me too as far as disappointment. It's not as good as past Trek.

Totally entitled to your opinion but I disagree. As would the many others who enjoyed both of those shows (which had great acting and some very memorable plots).

Let's wait and see if ST: Discovery reaches 7 seasons (or even 4) before we go proclaiming it as some bold new vision that is utterly superior to prior shows.
I'm barely hanging on in there to make 7 episodes :(

22 posts and you're already regularly whining about "SJW", "safe places", "metrosexual" and so many more things. Try and make us believe you're not a troll if you want to stick around.
Comments to PM.

As a kid I used to sit with my dad and my brother and watch new episodes of TNG. As a teen, my brother lost interest, but me and my father would still watch every episode of DS9 and Voyager together.

By Enterprise however, I was living on my own, and neither of us had the passion for it we used to, probably due to franchise fatigue and a general "meh" product.

But Discovery? We both subscribe to the app-- and after watching it with my own 13yr old son-- every monday at lunch I call my (now retired) father from work to discuss the previous night's episode.

TREK IS BACK, and as a son and a father, I couldn't be happier.

Why torture yourself if you find it so unentertaining? It's not going to magically change format this or next week.

It happened on The Oralville. They went from excellent last week to stinker this week. Weekly episodes of any show are like boxes of chocolates...

I’m enjoying the show, but man is it dark. Makes DS9 look like a garden party. A paranoid Starfleet, it’s ideals in question. A refelection of our times? TOS and TNG in more hopeful environment I guess. Interested to see if they run into Pike, or Decker, or even Kirk, how their characterizations would fit wth the likes of Lorca.
