Human Target

The new show Human Target looks interesting but I can't get past the lead. Mark Valley has been in a ton of stuff but I don't think he's that charismatic and is really boring. I may give this a chance but don't see how I'm gonna get past this centuries Ted McGinley.

From what I've seen of the show, it doesn't interest me at all. The preview clips I saw a few months ago were full of stupid writing and gratuitous, excessive violence. And the show has stripped the Human Target comic-book premise of its defining characteristic -- that the main character disguises himself as the people being targeted, puts himself directly in the bullseye. This guy's just a glorified bodyguard, not the same thing at all. Even the title doesn't make sense that way.

I just wish the short-lived Human Target series from the '90s would get a DVD release. Now, that was a good show.

When does this premiere? I'm mildly curious about it--I've actually heard really good things about the pilot.

I think it's the Sunday after next - 1/17, 8pm, FOX, right before the 24 premiere. I'll DVR both just because it's easy but I doubt Human Target will be worth sticking with. They should have gone for a stronger sf component.

Hey, wow! Me, too! I didn't think you would have liked the Rick Springfield version.

I'm curious why you'd think I wouldn't have liked it. It had a hero who categorically refused to take a life, who dedicated himself to preserving life rather than destroying it. That's just the kind of show I love, because heroes like that have been depressingly rare in US film and television since the '70s. (Although there have been some notable ones like MacGyver.)

on the bubble series front, Lie To Me and Human Target both are being renewed for 13 episodes.

Yay! The show improved tremendously with each episode. It's quickly become one of my favorites.

(The fact that Chi McBride is playing a slightly more serious version of Emerson Cod is just icing on the cake.)
