How would you feel if "Discovery" is revealed to be set in a mirror universe?

Why was General Groves put in charge of a science project (the Manhattan Project)?
Mainly because its goal was to create an atomic bomb which would then be used to destroy a city.

The two situations are not comparable in circumstance, location or era.

If you don't agree that's fine by me.

It's definitely going to be the mirror universe. I remember on imdb there was an actor credit for a LT. So n so of the "ISS Discovery" in episode 8 or 9.

I don't. First, the Manhattan Project was about building a nuclear weapon to tip the balance of WWII and the global military might of the US as a whole, not just destroy "a city". Lorca explicitly told us that's the reason why he's there too:

"You helped start a war, don't you want to help me end it?"

"... if the Discovery can be anywhere, and gone in an instant that's how you beat the Klingons.
That's how you win the war.
And we must win the war."

Sounds like he's working on something whose purpose is to win a war.
