I think a human male/Vulcan female relationship would be one where the Vulcan female would often be critical of the human male's behavior and customs, but would love him anyway and would not tolerate anyone else disparaging him because that's her job.

That seems common enough regardless of species… and in the other gender direction, too. (CORRECTION: Sorry, I should have said, regardless of gender. Surely same-sex or intersex couples do this too? It’s about being a couple.)
