How will you want Star trek 3 to end?

^ "Kirk and Spock's Day Off"

SPOCK: The 2161 Ferrari 250GT California. Less than a hundred were made. My father spent three years restoring this shuttle. It is his love, it is his passion.

KIRK: It is his fault he didn't lock the garage.

Actually, I hope it ends with me having really liked it. :)

Well said.

I hope the movie itself is a rip-roaring new adventure not based on any story we've seen before, set during the five year mission. At the end, Kirk receives new orders to set out to make first contact with a new race, or explore a new sector, or something similar. He orders Chekov and Sulu to plot and implement a new course, and the final shot shows the Enterprise heading off into deep space.

Maybe include the tag line from STIII - "The Adventure Continues . . ." just to satisfy us long-time fans.

I want it to end where everyone on the Abrahamsprise starts to act in totally nutty and irrational ways and Kirk is standing around trying to bring order and saying everyone is acting crazy.

Suddenly he is his on the head by something and passes out. Then we see a shot of William Shatner circa 1966 waking up and the room is kind of dark for a second. Suddenly all the lights come on and its TOS Enterprise bridge, Kirk is in his chair and all the cast members are there and Spock asks if Kirk is OK that was quite a blow he took when the Enterprise hit that asteroid. Kirk says he's fine and he had the weirdest dream of this alternate universe with lots of lens flair. Then he says to Uhura "You know, you really should walk around in your bra and panties more often."

Bonus points if you get the joke.

They find out nuVulcan still exists in another AU. The red matter just transported the whole planet to or created another universe.
Correction: It will (luckily) be in an orbit around a sun.

Actually, the planet was transported to an alternate universe where it roams through the galaxy, encountering new civilizations each week. It's adventures are chronicled in "Vulcan: (stardate) 1999". The show stars Martin Landau, who although dead now, seems like he was a shoe-in to play a Vulcan.

Although I like and have enjoyed both movies, I find that I really don't care where they're going. I'm not botheted what happens next. It'll just be a couple of hours entertainment I'm not hugely invested in.

If someone held a gun to my head and insisted, I'd say either a big reset button taking everything back to the prime continuity, or kill off any/all of the cast who won't do any more movies.

This. No cliffhanger, but leave the door open, should TPTB choose to do another movie or series.

Should they have already chosen between the two they could really bake our noodles and leave us with something like "The Adventure Continues . . . at home."

With the Enterprise NX-01 going into a time rift, from alternate 2261 back to prime 2161.

Meanwhile the screen ripples from a focus on Pine, Quinto, Urban - the Abramsprise coming apart around them - to a CG assisted Shatner, Nimoy and Kelley on a 1960s style Enterprise safe & sound. :p

If that happened it would be the first movie ever to make me :barf:

I love TOS, it's my favourite of all iterations of Trek. But this would be a disaster.

I'll pass you my popcorn bucket. I've normally emptied it by the time the trailers are over. ;)

Okay. Maybe not that. Because the change in actor isn't acknowledged. It's not a different universe thing. Never was in previous character recasting before that. Nimoy's Spock recognises Pine's Kirk as a younger version of the person he knew. So if a story did happen to be set after the 5-year mission, and it featured the new cast, who's to say which universe it is? Although I suppose the lack of a planet Vulcan and an Enterprise refit that doesn't look the one from The Motion Picture, would give it away.

I'd be very surprised if there wasn't something that screamed 50 years ago today. They almost allowed a full-on 1960s Constitution class to hang over Peter Weller's head in STID. So perhaps somebody somewhere sees universes converging.

Clicking together the heels of their matching pairs of ruby slippers, and intoning in unison: "Oh, Auntie Em, there's no place like home"? :p

Why do I need this? I have all of their adventures sitting on a shelf in my living room.

Works for me. I have no problem with the new cast, but I have always thought the whole "changed history" thing was idiotic, and anything that reverses it is welcome.

"Old Spock, why haven't you attempted to return to your universe?"

"I can't, Jim. It was instantly erased when I travelled back through time. My Enterprise, the next generation, none of it ever existed."

;)

I'd want it to end with Spock and Kirk getting married.
I know it won't happen, but the question was what I wanted.
Barring that, I don't see the need for closure or some big finale or cliffhanger. Just the Enterprise and her crew continuing their voyager.
If there was going to be anything to disrupt the status quo, some kind of relationship development for Spock and Uhura would be appropriate.
A flashforward to the JJ-verse Next Gen with new Next Gen movies would be pretty cool. I'm really in love with the idea of a JJ -verse Next Gen movie series. There was that rumor of casting for Deanna Troi.
I'm not ruling out another movie with this crew, but if not, I am really curious to see what comes next. I don't see any reason not to recast whoever doesn't want to return and just make another movie in the same universe.
I don't see any reason to do a reality reset as the original universe is still out there.
I really want a new Trek tv series. One movie every two or three years isn't enough.
