Not really. Kirk's hopping around when McCoy jabs him with another hypospray. It's an easy observation to make.

Meh. I'm sure this could go on for days, right down to the number of rivets in the hull. Suffice to say, I like the movie and I find it to be a lot of fun. You don't have to like it and you know that of course you're free to dislike everything about it.

This makes even me raise an eyebrow. For me the problem is the lame physical humor, not that the hypospray hurts when it's used.

I love the physical humor. There was tons of it in the original series, and it was nice to see it back again.

huh.. I don't care if something was a hit.. what do you mean by "what's the point of hating something that was a big hit." What does it being a big hit have to do with someone hating it? Are we supposed to like things just a little bit more because they are big hits? Or do you mean our hatred is futile if we mean to gather a mob of like minded haters and get some groundswell going to destroy our hated thing..
Hang on a sec.... we're talking about a movie here. I didn't say you can't hate something, but it's pragmatic to say it doesn't make any difference, because they made it and people liked it (well in general at least), so any new ST produced will follow a similar recipe. Hating it is a waste of energy, then, because it won't change a thing.

I am a huge fan of Trek and although I was looking forward to the new movie a little part of me was worried about what was going to happen. I'd read the spoilers about what happened to Vulcan and again wondered how I'd feel about it.
I LOVED the movie and the alternate timeline story as it just opens up Trek to whole new possibilities. The franchise was tired and as pointed out before no-one wanted to pick it up either movie wise or for TV. OK so some die hards are unhappy but hey, you still have the DVDs of everything.
This re-imagining of Trek opens it up to a whole new audience and generation of fans. My 6 year old loves the movie and never was interested in the old ones (Despite me trying time after time to get him interested....).
Does it blend in? probably not, but surely that's the whole point?

Jeez, you make it sound like I'm trying to insult you for hating something. I'm not. I just like the "let's not get worked up about something that's basically irrelevant and that we can't change anyway" thought. It's not world peace, politics, the environment or anything. It's entertainment.

Oh you completely misunderstand me. I was mainly addressing the person you were replying to, startrekrcks who said:

Maybe I've been reading hate posts too long, haha.. but I didn't see why it being a big hit had anything to do with the not hating it (still don't I guess). So when you said it was a waste of energy I thought I saw what startrekrcks was getting at..
And for the record I do not hate it, I am practically in love with it.
