Spoilers How will this season end?

They win something, then the turbo lift doors open and Tilly rolls in a keg and they party like no one has partied before. Then Saru pulls out some of those spore alien things from that planet causing all of them to get high, that’s when the orgy starts. It just sort of ends there, it’s still better than TNG’s first finale.

Not to derail the thread...but anyone who recommends R1 as a way to stay awake whilst watching a Star Wars movie needs to be called out.
I pretty much fell asleep in the last act lol. The problem is the movie has no characters.
TLJ and TFA imo were better films, but are extremely mediocre for their own reasons.
The Prequel films are awful, every single one. That said, The Clone Wars TV show is absolutely fantastic and is a must watch for Star Wars fans.

Watch the episodes it picks out and Honourable mentions as well, and you actually get a better Star Wars story than possibly even the Original Trilogy.

Is it possible season 2 is just a standard Trek season with standalones? Exploring. No huge arcs.
Is that even possible at this point? I kinda would hope it is. I wouldn't mind if we spent all of next season doing that. Little character arcs only spread over a season of classic Star Trek exploring.

I seriously hope they have at least considered such a thing. There's no reason this has to be a 7 year long story arc all the time.

I don't think it is. Discovery is seriaized and that is what season 2 will be. Otherwise you'll lose any new viewers who came and enjoyed the serialized nature of season 1 if you completely change the format for season 2. I expect we may see more standalone stories during the arc like magic to make the sanest man go mad, but I'm pretty sure it will still be an overall serialized show.

Oh God I hope not. Episode TV is just not really a thing anymore.

Enterprise shows up and we meet Pike and crew.

I recall you mentioned that you heard this through the grapevine of trusted sources. It would be interesting (and a huge fan-gasm) if it does come to pass. But this means there has been some serious production secrecy going on -- casting, sets, wardrobe, etc... Odd that nothing has leaked.

That being said, I would love to see this happen!

In the resultant double Buran destruction quantum anomaly which sent both Lorcas (Lorci?) to eachother's universes, Prime Lorca learnt of Mirror Lorca's attempt to overthrow the Emperor. Learning that Mirror Lorca was trying to bring just and benevolent reform to the Empire Prime Lorca sets out to complete his doppelganger's mission for him.

There's setbacks and nothing goes to plan so Prime Lorca finds Mirror Stamets and tasks him with getting a message to Mirror Lorca with the express order to join him in the Mirror Universe with great urgency.

With Mirror Lorca now on the Palace ship, a race against a time begins. He needs to bring down the ISS Charon's shields before Prime Lorca arrives with the Defiant... Duh Duh DUH!

Que mega assualt as Shenzhou and Discovery arrive and begin to do battle with the Palace ship. All looks lost until the Defiant arrives, with Prime Lorca, launching huge shattering lances from the mega phaser cannons built into the Constitution class' pylons, just as Mirror Lorca brings down the shields. Everyone is transported out before destruction. Mirror Lorca thanks Prime Lorca everyone lives happily ever after. But much more importantly, allows Prime Lorca to be in Season 2.

The end.

I don’t mind an overall arc but I would love more standalones to actually meet these characters and give them more personality in later seasons. What do they do when they aren’t on duty, what do they do for fun, stuff like that. Give me a Detmer episode dang it.

Throw retro themed Disco parties and play beer pong.

Is it canon that the Klingon War lasts 4 years? If the war is over by season 2, will S02 take place 3 years later, or will the Discovery jump 3 years in returning back to the PU in time for the last couple episodes?

I don't remember hearing anything about a Klingon War lasting four years.

... on another note, I think the USS Discovery gets back to the Prime Universe at the end of the season finale... only to find out what Captain Killy and the ISS Discovery has done to both the Klingons and the Federation while they've been gone.

Cue Season 2.

I wouldn't mind seeing standalone episodes mixed in with an overarching season long arc. We already know the Klingon was is done by the end of this season so my guess is that Discovery will be 'out there' doing some discovering.

Yeah I wonder what is happening in the prime universe right now.
