I still consider myself a trekker even though some fans now saw the label is n longer in vogue because of NuTrek and a more general fanbase of those movies but I disagree. I was, am and always will consider myself a trekker until I am on my deathbed watching a original series episode one more time.![]()

The term Trekker is used by Trekkies who don't like being called Trekkies.
I don't know when "Trekker" came into existence, but I was called a Trekkie by someone during the mid-70s, and I think Trekker was already showing up in fanzines by then.
I started with TOS as a teenager in 1966. I was definitely a Trekkie, because I bought an AMT Enterprise and a first edition The Making of Star Trek in the 60s.
