Are there many connections to TOS? Is Kirk discussed much?
A couple times. Then he gets killed by Malcolm McDowell.
Sorry, ruined TOS for you!

it's a visual reboot, mostly. everything looks different and wrong, from the uniforms to the Enterprise herself. They really just slapped the name Star Trek on what should really be an original showAre there many connections to TOS? Is Kirk discussed much?

Clearly the writers had never watched Star Trek. And how dare Picard accuse Spock of "cowboy diplomacy." Had TNG no respect for the "real" STAR TREK we all grew up on?![]()
Making fun of you? No, I don't know you from Adam nor do I have anything against you. I have asked questions hoping to understand your point of view. I have an extremely sarcastic sense of humor and had some fun in the thread with that humor based upon other posts. None of it directed at you. Sorry for any offense. You know what, several messages here are just to make fun of me. I thought Trek fans would be above a common school yard bully.
I'm 38 years old. I was bullied in school when I was a kid. It haunts me to this day. Thank you for reminding me.
We're criticising your reasoning, not you personally. No one is bullying you.You know what, several messages here are just to make fun of me. I thought Trek fans would be above a common school yard bully.

Also, Star Trek fans are not a better breed of people.
Knowing fandom not well.I am curious to know how the fandom reacted to Shatner's "get a life" skit on SNL, back then?
far from it. but at least a little bit more arrogant than the usual fandoms, because we saw the light of Gene's Vision (tm)Also, Star Trek fans are not a better breed of people.
True. We are definitely the illuminati nowfar from it. but at least a little bit more arrogant than the usual fandoms, because we saw the light of Gene's Vision (tm)
That is dangerously close to gatekeeping.

This line is what stood out to me as possibly close to gatekeeping:I am confused. WarpFactorZ was encouraging the OP to watch "Picard". I thought gatekeepers were all about trying to control access, ie. restricting who comes in and out.
If you like Trek, watch it. If you don't like Trek, don't watch it and also don't hang out on a BBS devoted to a show, only to trash it every chance you get.
Welcome to TrekBBS: where weirdness is the new normal. This has been a weird thread, lets forget it and be friends?
