it's a visual reboot, mostly. everything looks different and wrong, from the uniforms to the Enterprise herself. They really just slapped the name Star Trek on what should really be an original show
Scotty was the biggest let down. Completely eviscerated the character.
Clearly the writers had never watched Star Trek.And how dare Picard accuse Spock of "cowboy diplomacy." Had TNG no respect for the "real" STAR TREK we all grew up on?
You know what, several messages here are just to make fun of me. I thought Trek fans would be above a common school yard bully.

People here make fun of pretty much everyone, no matter how serious or valid or relevant their posts are. It takes some getting used to, but I tell myself that they don't mean to be mean, they just pick up something that's funny about someone's post and add more fun to it...

I am confused. WarpFactorZ was encouraging the OP to watch "Picard". I thought gatekeepers were all about trying to control access, ie. restricting who comes in and out.
To be clear, not making fun of you. Just joking about the way each generation of fandom tends to get prickly and defensive about their version of STAR TREK or STAR WARS or DOCTOR WHO or whatever. Which is a near-universal phenomenon across all fandoms. Rest assured that fifteen years from now, we'll be making the same jokes about folks being concerned that the new, new, new TREK shows will "ruin" DISCOVERY and PICARD.
Nothing personal. Watching your old favorites get revamped and revised over and over is just part of being a fan. You get used to it, I promise.
