How was 7 of 9 introduced in 'Picard'?

You know what, several messages here are just to make fun of me. I thought Trek fans would be above a common school yard bully.

I'm 38 years old. I was bullied in school when I was a kid. It haunts me to this day. Thank you for reminding me.

People here make fun of pretty much everyone, no matter how serious or valid or relevant their posts are. It takes some getting used to, but I tell myself that they don't mean to be mean, they just pick up something that's funny about someone's post and add more fun to it...

Making fun of you? No, I don't know you from Adam nor do I have anything against you. I have asked questions hoping to understand your point of view. I have an extremely sarcastic sense of humor and had some fun in the thread with that humor based upon other posts. None of it directed at you. Sorry for any offense.

Also, Star Trek fans are not a better breed of people.

We're criticising your reasoning, not you personally. No one is bullying you.

I am curious to know how the fandom reacted to Shatner's "get a life" skit on SNL, back then?

To be clear, not making fun of you. Just joking about the way each generation of fandom tends to get prickly and defensive about their version of STAR TREK or STAR WARS or DOCTOR WHO or whatever. Which is a near-universal phenomenon across all fandoms. Rest assured that fifteen years from now, we'll be making the same jokes about folks being concerned that the new, new, new TREK shows will "ruin" DISCOVERY and PICARD.

Nothing personal. Watching your old favorites get revamped and revised over and over is just part of being a fan. You get used to it, I promise. :)

I am confused. WarpFactorZ was encouraging the OP to watch "Picard". I thought gatekeepers were all about trying to control access, ie. restricting who comes in and out.
This line is what stood out to me as possibly close to gatekeeping:
If you like Trek, watch it. If you don't like Trek, don't watch it and also don't hang out on a BBS devoted to a show, only to trash it every chance you get.

This has been a weird thread, lets forget it and be friends?
Welcome to TrekBBS: where weirdness is the new normal.

Also, I just want to understand your point of view on Picard. Lots of characters from TOS have died. How does that impact enjoyability? Honest question-no sarcasm (yet. :D)
