Spoilers How to save Star Trek's 'Legacy' entering the 25th century!

Unfortunately, some of the fans around here are rather angry gatekeepers of NuTrek. They still believe that the ideas of Disco season 3 and 4 would resonate with a majority of fans. We all know, that this is not the case, but who are we to kick them from their high horses, right?
Yes, Disco is so hated by the majority of fans that it *checks notes* now has two spinoff series and a spinoff movie.

Mr. B, I read your treatment. Keep in mind that the reason why PIC S3 succeeded was that it balanced the nostalgia factor with a "semi-new" story. Reason why S1 and S2 of PIC failed to capture the imaginations of the audience was because a) the new cast didn't have time to grow, which is hard to do in a serial format, and, b) making STAR TREK "edgy" is bound to fair. You can push the envelop with the franchise, but going too far breaks it. At any rate, other than two of your suggestions, I would support your treatment. What two? One, NO KEVIN FEIGE-type (we already have that in the form of Kurtzman, which is a bit problematic), and two, NO REBOOT (we already have that: STAR TREK 2009). If it happened, it happened, so we move on.

It's been a year and I still have no idea what this thread is supposed to be. But I couldn't help but chuckle at this:

(v) Seven as Captain Hansen of Voyager!
This is such awkward wording. It reminds of the Goldeneye video game where they did the mock credits with things like "James Bond as 007". It also manages to both dead name her and not at the same time.

(5) Hire a new 'Kevin Feige' to take Star Trek forward

We HAVE one -- Alex Kurtzman.

we likely need a Time Travel pilot that completely erases Picard Seasons 1-3 and starts everything over

How arrogant.

(viii) Updating Worf and the Klingons! Forget all the prequel Klingon stuff on Discovery that attempted to retcon the look of the Klingons yet again

Like it or not, Disco is canon.

In summary, Star Trek can still be salvaged

There's nothing that needs to be "salvaged." There's nothing wrong with Trek.

Agree the Klingon stuff on Disco is canon, but that doesn't mean it wasn't aweful and hated, and poorly explained, it was unpopular enough that Discovery season 2 drifts away from it even, nevermind Picard, Lower Decks, and season 2 of SNWs.

And there is always room for improvement.

Terry Matalas has a development deal with paramount now, doesn't take a genius to figure out its for Legacy once the WGA strike is over.

I hope Kestia gets added to the cast. The character has deep roots, Luxana Trio, Kyle Riker, Will Riker, Deanna Trio, Thomas Riker, Thaddus Riker, and was really cool in her own right. The character feels like One part D&D, one part Bridge to Tarabitha, one part Peter Pan, Tom Boy figure. I like her friendship with Soji too.

It doesn't need explanation. I hate the TMP uniforms too. Should they just be ignored?

Did he say he had a deal with Paramount in that audio podcast? Because I didn’t bother to listen to it, nor did I see that he had a deal in the actual Trekmovie link you posted. Perhaps you could quote where Matalas says this.

Near the end of the interview he mentions it.

For "Legacy"
Had a thought the other day, We know Checkov had a son, Anton. Sulu had a daughter. Supposedly Spock was married? McCoy had a daughter ( supposedly) What about the legacy of the old crew? Introduce some decendents of them?

All he says is that he has some things ‘in development’ but no active Trek shows on the horizon. And all ‘in development’ means is the same thing he’s always said that people take out of context: that he would love to make a new show but CBS/Paramount has yet to green-light anything. For some reason that equates to “Terry and CBS are making Star Trek Legacy!!!!” to these over-excited and unrealistic fan expectations.

They can't greenlight anything while the writers strike lasts, the dev deal is to keep Matalas on the team until the strike is over.

Anyways this losts 15 stories already set up for Star Trek Legacy by Picard

https://screenrant.com/15-star-trek...et-up/#more-tng-kids-joining-star-trek-legacy

Apparently Matalas' mentioned he wants all the TNG kids invovled, Alexander, Soji, Kestra, Jack, the LaForge Sisters.

That's funny because all the studios are suspending their current development deals with writer producers for the duration of the strike; so no it's not done to keep Terry Matalas 'on staff' as right now with respect to writing anything, nobody who is a current WGA member in good standing is on staff anywhere right now.

(And if Terry Matallas was pitching anything right now, that would make him a scab; so no he's not pitching anything to any Studio at this point in time because he is a WGA member in good standing.)

I never said they had him writing. And those contracts are suspended, not cancelled.
