How Star Wars Ruined Star Trek

As far as the supernova--it might be there was exotic matter the star ingested--causing it to explode much more violently--super naquadah or something. In the Sternbach Chronology--you had the phi-Puma superblast due to a galactic faultline of sorts.

Trekksters? That's the new hair band.

Next up St. Vincent and the Grenadines

chris pine just said asking for a star wars role would not be good for his career and I understand where he is coming from an actor in both franchises could ruin his career in future casting not to mention the confusion and jokes people will be making for it.

Yeah I don't agree with this. Chris Pine is a fairly hot commodity, so being in both franchises would not be the career killer. Perhaps he is referring to the fact that very few featured actors in the Star Wars franchise have gone on to have an illustrious career.

Probably the most relevant example is Ewan McGreggor, he was a similarly hot commodity in the mid-to-late nineties, and it's arguable that playing Obi-Wan in the prequels didn't exactly do wonders for his career.

That is true, but co-relation does not prove causation, and in the case of Ewan, he had tended to favor more 'edgy' or 'indie' films, so his appearance in the prequels was really an outlier.

Chris Pine has been running the big budget action comedy route and unfortunately may run into the same problem virtually every "hot commodity" actor and actress runs into: replacement by the next big thing.

Well, that happens a lot, because mostly actors like Pine are just average, and I don't even mean that in a negative way. They come and go. There are only a few standouts in a decade. Cumberbatch is one. His voice acting and his performance in Sherlock gets him places. But Pine? He's just the average pretty face with a couple of action comedies and a perfume commercial. Sam Worthington's flame extinguished already as well, even though he was supposed to be a big star with Avatar, Terminator and Clash of the Titans. Next one to vanish soon after a few big budget movies is Chris Pratt.

Hum... I think Pratt has more talent and charm than all of those others, however. He may have more staying power.

Pratt is also primarily a TV actor, so I would be surprised to see him vanish. He may not get big budget starring roles, but he'll still be around.

Also, Ewan's uncle was in the original Star Wars trilogy, so he jumped at the opportunity to continue on.

Also, Pine has been willing to step out in to other roles, including "Into the Woods" to expand his resume.

He may last, or he may not. Quite honestly, I'm happy with his work so far, and hope he continues on with a long career.

Pine will be around for a long time.

In my opinion, I see him either burning out by the end of the decade and/or transitioning to TV work, which can offer him some longevity. I don't see him lasting as an A-lister doing rom - coms and action flicks. Perhaps if he gets a solid, "dramatic" , Oscar-bait role, he might be able to stick around a bit longer.
No reflection on his talents or abilities, of course, just the way that Hollywood seems to work.

a way star wars could ruin star trek.

star wars: the old cast is back and would be important to the story.

star trek: forces William shatner into star trek 3 by any means necessary even if the plot does not need him.

Yeah, Pratt's just overflowing with this charisma so that even when he's playing a jerk he's a likable jerk people want to have around. I would not be surprised if he has a career like John Goodman's, where even if you know the movie is awful you at least have his part to look forward to.

Star Trek made its debut on television way back in 1966 with the episode "The Man Trap," a tale which saw Captain Kirk and his crew facing off against a deadly salt vampire (in space, no one can hear you season…). And now, almost half a century later, the crew of the USS Enterprise finds itself in another kind of trap altogether: Star Trek 3, the latest entry in the rebooted movie series starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, has recently become director-less and is reportedly undergoing behind-the-scenes creative upheaval even as the clock is running to get the film in front of cameras for the franchise’s 50th anniversary......

An interesting read and some details I never really connected before.

Yet another stupid blogger talking bullshit and not making any sense. But what else is new?

Boy, do I ever miss Starlog, and wish that it could come back-it was more professional than any of these websites.
