How redesigned will the movie be?

The layout and design of the bridge and ship will be very similar to what we already know. The control panels, however, will look like they actually do something now. I imagine we'll get something similar to ENT's control panels.

I think that if you compare the movie version of "Lost In Space" with the TV series you'll get a sense of the likely similarities and differences between old Trek and nuTrek.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :scream:

A bridge that looked pretty much like the NX-01 bridge would work really well. More color, please.

That said, I mentioned "Lost In Space" because I was watching part of that movie last night and noticed the degree to which many of the set pieces in the main Jupiter II set were derived from the ones on the TV series - without looking much like them at all.

I agree. I liked the NX bridge too, but it did need more color.

I would bet the bridge layout in Trek 11 looks exactly like TOS. All the stations will be in the same position. The monitors will be flat panel LCD screens. The controls won't be touch panels like TNG, but they also won't use clunky 60's era knobs and switches either. I'm not sure what to expect for the controls, but I have faith it'll look good.

We don't know how it will be designed...

But it will be FABULOUS!!!!

It's been a long road getting from ENT to here. It's been a long time, but there's only left one year.

Will it be epic(watch the amazing battle in Revenge of the Sith with the sky filled with ships

That's your definition of "epic"?

Visually. Star Trek version of epic, moviewise at least-3 or 4 ships for a maximum duration of 5 minutes if you are lucky. All action is reduced to dialogue, so instead of seeing a weapon hit we get-"Shields down to 50%!" and then "Shields down to 42%!"(Audience-"Oh my God! Awwww! The shields dropped 8%!")

Star Trek isn't about "epic" battles with 50,000,000 ships on screen. It's usualy about the characters and some crisis, often personal but occasionaly a threat that can effect the Galaxy or the Federation.

When people see a movie, they want to see an event, not something that they can see on a regular tv show. If there was a Trek movie that had a scene like Way of the Warrior part 2 or Sacrifice of Angels it would have made quite a lot of money.

Great looking movie. Atrocious (non)acting.

Oh, I liked the guy from "Friends" as Major West a lot ("And the monkey flips the switch"). Mimi Rogers was good, and Gary Oldman was outstanding.

Of course, Bob May should have won an Oscar.

The effects, sadly, epitomize everything that people mean when they say "unconvincing CGI."

The LIS movie had some terrific miniature work (shooting out of doors really helped on that crash), and I think that is what makes the CG look worse. When you see that great miniature interior on Earth for the Jupiter liftoff and then cut to cg exterior, it really shows the difference between originating with something physical (and well-shot) and something whole-cloth synthetic.

I think they should have stuck with the physical animal too, the cg version was gawdawful!

No..that would be Babylon 5
Sigh... yep, we DEFINITELY should expect that groundbreaking early work in a field will be on a par with later work, with better tools, built upon the foundation of the earlier work.

Makes PERFECT sense if you live in the land of the gumdrop trees...

B5 was earlier and more innovative - and I do find Foundation's work on the show more plausible than the CG in "Lost In Space," sorry.

"Crusade" is another matter entirely.

B5's effects were innovative and has had a huge influence on the use of CGI on the small screen, in the later Trek series and so on.

However, it was as unconvincing as hell. :)
