How old were you when you first got drunk?

^ Same here. Fifteen was a magical year for me. I got tanked for the first time at a high school theater party, started smoking full time and made the honor roll for three out of four semesters.

I didn't think to mention that the worst (best?) part is that I drank my friend's uncle under the table.

The next day's hangover is another story :(

Thanks for all the replies, I'm shocked at the number of 15s, not because it's "too young" or anything but a lot of first experiences in life seem to happen at age 15.

24. When I went to college. I drank pretty heavily for the next three years, but since then I have only drunk occasionally and never to get drunk.

I never went to a real college so I was at a friend's dorm and there was a mini party and I had a drink, and then another, and by the third I was already drunk and just kept drinking. It felt fine, I was smile, but I was completely with it. That's why I drank, it was just fun. Plus it was vodka and soda and I like soda and didn't realize I added as much vodka than I did. That's why I drank too much to answer someone's question. :)

I've never been "drunk"- I drink enough to get slightly (enjoyably) tipsy and relaxed but never enough to have any unfortunate side effects like hangovers, and never so that I lose control of myself. :)

I never lost control of myself, I just wasn't paying attention to how much I was drinking because I felt fine... for two-three hours that I was drinking. Someone went "I think you had enough" when I was half passed out, but I was also tired.

I love the fact people go "Well I was drunk!" to an excuse for doing something they supposedly wouldn't. That's bullshit, they just use it as cover. I was really drunk, felt like I was going to puke up EVERYTHING in me, but I still was completely with it. I remember the whole night, and it was actually better that I spent it in a bathroom than the room because some shit happened that indirectly dealt with me.

I first got drunk at age 5. I was living in San Antonio and my father thought it would be interesting to see if I liked his beer. So he gave me a sip. And I liked it. Soon, he would just let me get a beer from the fridge for myself. The brand of that beer? Pearl.

Ironically, I had stopped drinking before my 22nd birthday. Just after it had become legal to drink, I quit. My tolerance for the taste of alcohol had diminished over the years, to the point where I just don't like the way it tastes anymore. I tried my old favorite from when I was a teenager about a year ago, a shot of Jack Daniels. But the instant it hit my tongue, I remembered how much I just did not like the stuff anymore. Wound up pouring it down the drain. The only use I have found for it is as an ingredient in my homemade barbecue sauce. But there is hardly any alcohol left in it after it has been made.

First time I remember was probably when I was 18. It wasn't a case of completely and utterly smashed though.

I'm told that the first time I really got drunk was at an after wedding party as a toddler. I apparently went around sneaking a drink out of the glasses everyone had temporarily put down.

I first started drinking when I was 19, but never to excess, 2 or 3 drinks in one night was enough for me. When I was 21 I was on a dinner-date and my girlfriend didn't much like the bottle of wine we ordered, so I kept on drinking it in order to get my money's worth, completely forgetting that it contained alcohol. :alienblush: She joked that I was drunk, but I insist to this day that I was merely very tipsy.

The first time I think I got drunk was when I was 22, at a work night out, and I rather enjoyed it. I've done it again quite a few times since, sometimes a little too much.

Getting fucked up when your young is great...All I want now is a steady buzz.

It's great at the time, but I think it's also the reason I can't handle as much anymore. It aged me!

It depends what we mean by drunk.

I first tried alcohol around age 10, which did impair my sense of orientation and made my primary senses delayed and fuzzy. I didn't like the sensation. I didn't like that I couldn't reverse the sensation. Nor did I like the flavour of the drink.

When I was older, about 14 I was curious to see what the effect was like with more alcohol, or if it even had the same effect. I had enough to make me giggly. I didn't like that sensation either. I felt retarded.

I tried again with more when I was about 17. That time I felt emotionally separated from reality. It was rather like watching a dream, even though I knew it was real. That gave me a mild headache the next day which soon disappeared.

Then again when I was about age 21, which was the most I'd ever had. That was my last experiment into the effects of alcohol. The effects was much like before, except my balance was poor now, and I really struggled to walk, even a short distance. I was surprised it had affected me that much. The next morning I had a similarly mild headache that soon disappeared.

None of these experiences were enjoyable. Alcohol has never done anything positive for me. Nor do I enjoy the flavour of it.

That's what I call drunk.

I was amazed that after about standing in the bathroom, I had to sit down because I was so bad I couldn't stand up.

It's funny because I didn't die, I only felt like I would at times.

Sometimes standing up can be the true test of drunk. I can be sitting down and drinking a ton and never feel it, but as soon as I stand up I'm suddenly wasted.

I first started drinking when I was 19, but I didn't get drunk until a couple years later at 21 on Election night '08.

My first ever taste of anything alcoholic was when I was 18, and celebrating the end of my first term at Uni. I would usually try to avoid drinking to excess during those times, and only really enough to become disinhibited and happy (funnily enough) but not even remotely near to the point where I would lose my faculties.

The most I'd ever taken was as I was turning 21 (funnily enough :p). It didn't really leave me falling-down-drunk as it were (I could still walk), but I do remember losing precise co-ordination, having a sense of carelessness about my surroundings, and still being able to hold my own with my friends. I also remember getting severe heartburn the following day, as opposed to a headache.

Nowadays I don't drink alcohol in general. Sometimes I might have perhaps a single glass of something, say for very special occasions, but because I'm often driving to these places of relaxation, I now always stay teetotal.

After a few experimental drinky situations, I'd say I first got rat-arsed drunkl when I was about 14. It wasn't long before pub-dwelling was the norm for, well, everyone of the same age, really...

Still, it never became a problem for me, and by the time I was in my early 20s I really couldn't be bothered with booze any more.
