How much would a little violation of canon bother you?
Well, Shatner's appearance in Star Trek XI isn't going to bother me at all, so I guess not.

A thought had occured to me. Um, doesn't having the Romulans in this film violate canon?

Smart ass answer: Only if they have ridges on their foreheads.
Sensible answer: If they went back in time from the 24th century and weren't noticed, it'd be no different than when Spock visited 1980s Earth in TVH. Of course, if they go back and yell, "Here we are!" Well -- .

The problem I see with some canon is the following....
General Audiace : Who's this guy, where's McCoy ?
While WE know that Dr. Piper was there before McCoy the general audiance won't know something as mundane as that, see they know Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Checkov, Uhura, Chapel, after that it's people only WE would know.
So a little canon will be TOSsed aside so the General Audiance doesn't need a score card to follow the film![]()
We all want an entertaining movie. The thing is, some of us see canon as an obstacle to that... and others don't.Jack Bauer said:Canon can go fuck itself for all I care. If it steps on some canon toes...so fucking what. I want an entertaining movie not a chance to jerk off to canon.
