How many ways can you come back from the dead?

Characters returning to a TV series after they’ve been killed off is becoming a cliché of science-fiction. Let’s make of list of all the ways this has happened in Trek (include twin brothers or other relatives played by the same actor).

I'll start with Tasha Yar (ST: TNG) who was killed by an oil-slick alien, only to come back in an alternative universe, who then had a half-Romulan daughter who returned to plague Picard.

As a hologram.

Time Travel™.

A clone.

An android.

Does a hallucination of a deceased character count?

Well, the obvious one is Spock returning from the dead via a mind-meld and the Genesis Wave.

Scotty was killed and then resurrected by the Nomad probe.

Weird trill ceremonies where you can inhabit the Trill's friends and then decide not to leave.

How about slipping a character a Mickey, so the audience only thinks they're dead? (Like Kirk in Amok Time?)

^^Or creating a character for the only purpose of revealing he's still alive when the other characters obviously expect him to be dead, like Zephram Cochrane? :)

Harry Kim being replaced by his doppelganger from the alternative voyager in Dadlock. Naomi wildman for that matter.

Would "Q" (or another all powerful being) or a "Different Universe" count? :)

I would think so, the Terran's used "our" universe's Sisko to replace their Sisko who was killed. Jennifer was also brought into DS9 from the Mirror Universe.

Transporters worked to bring back that guy's son in Enterprise.

It's hinted that the Prophets will return Sisko once he has finished whatever he has to do in the Celestial Temple.

Person never died to begin with, like when Kirk fought Spock.

Kill the person for a little while, pushing TNG medical technology to the limit like in Man of the People.

Breaking a time loop like in Cause and Effect.

Being the true love of a Douwd in The Survivors.

OK I'm out of ideas.

I hated this, every time I see that stupid half Romulan, half Human, bad acting, glory seeking ..... so and so .... I get a little annoyed because it just smacks of 'ooohhhh I shouldn't have left the show ... damn .... how can I get back in? ..... I know .....time travel and if I turn into a Romulan my smirk can be part of my character' .......:censored:.........:censored:......:brickwall:

Sorry its bugs me a little bit.

I don't know how many ways there are to come back from the dead, but I do know that there are 50 ways to leave your lover :)

How about the "there's more where that one came from" twist? Weyoun & the Borg Queen come to mind...

11. Died and alien race re-animated you with their DNA. (Saw it on Voyager yesterday. She said it's how their race procreates. Yeah.. uh huh riiiiiiiight! "So the mommy and the daddy love each other, then they find a dead body... No Junior, there was no stork, just a dead body..." :guffaw::guffaw:

Well your ship could be split in half, you could die, but the other half could jump over to the surviving version via Engineering.

Or you can be immortal, like Leslie, and die and then show up again with no explanation.
