How many times will you see a movie in theaters?

I got to thinking after seeing some posts around here it would be interesting to ask. I myself have never seen a movie more than once in theaters. It seems like a lot of money to spend, and even when I used to go practically weekly I always preferred to watch something new to re-watching a good movie. Even once I get the DVD I usually watch a movie about 1 or 2 more times until every scene becomes too familiar to elicit any excitement from me. I might watch it every couple of years after that. That's just me though.

Thoughts? How many times have you gone?

The last movie I saw more than once in the theater was Serenity.

Although I'm seriously considering seeing Star Wars again.

When I could go for free, there was no limit, especially if I had friends who wanted to go, too. I could get a guest in for free with me.

Now that I have to pay for my tickets, its just once, maybe twice. I've only gone to see the same movie twice three times in the last year & a half - Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man and Star Wars - Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

I think the only movies I have seen more than once in the theater were the original Star Wars and Star Trek 6.

I don't go to the cinema that often. Too expensive, so maybe just two or three times a year (depending on what movies are playing, and whether or not we go with friends). So normally I would never watch the same movie twice in the cinema...

However I did watch Star Wars twice! (But was on vacation in Asia, and cinemas are cheap there!)

Typically once. That said though, I've seen the original trilogy of Star Wars more than once at the cinema (Originals, then the updated ones).

I saw the first two Star Trek movies 5 times each. I don't remember how many times I saw Star Trek IV; it was more than once, but less than five.

The movies I saw twice include Henry V, Dune, and The Handmaid's Tale.

I saw Contact five times.

Clue... at least three times, at different theatres (back then it was the only way to see all the alternate endings, since each theatre had a different version of the movie).

Star Wars (the original)... don't recall. At least three times, maybe four.

I've seen some of these movies many more times on TV or video.

Generally once, there are a couple of films I have seen more than once at the cinema but we are talking years if not decades between seeing them at the cinema.

The only film I've seen more than once in the cinema is The Matrix. Partly because it blew my mind, partly because a girl I was interested in wanted to see it.

With rare exceptions like Star Trek or Star Wars, just once. I saw the JJ Trek films and TFA twice.

Usually once. A film has to be a seriously good experience to see a second time at cinema prices and it happens maybe every couple of years. I think I've only seen one film three times in the cinema and that was Star Trek (2009).

Usually only once. The exception is when a group of family or friends wants to see a movie with me but I don't want to wait until their schedule allows me to go, in which case I'll go see it alone first then go with the friends. That's why I saw the new Star Wars twice. Before that the last two films I saw twice in the theater were Minority Report and South Park. Minority Report only because someone I was with got sick 2/3 of the way through.

True about prices what with the cost of driving to the cinema, ticket, snacks and drink the blu-ray it's only a few quid more and the beauty is I can watch it as often as I like and if I don't like it I can always sell it and recoup some of my money.

In fact I only go to the cinema 3-4 times a year.

The only movies I can remember seeing more than once were Star Wars and Popeye. Now with the price of admission and the time and gas it takes to get to the theater I go once, if at all. It has to be a film I really want to see on the big screen. If not I can afford to wait 2-3 months before I rent it or check it out from the local library.

Forget snacks and everything... if you wait for the right sale at Amazon, the blu-ray can be only a couple dollars more than a *single* theatre ticket. If more than one of you would be going to the theatre, then blu-ray is almost always the cheaper option. This is kinda why the last movie I saw in theatres was STID... and even that was a discount theatre! I was going to go see TFA when I was off during the holidays... but with all the Christmas bills and everything, I figured it was more financially sound to wait for the BR, so I talked myself out of it.
