How many crewmembers died during the first five-year mission?

Has anyone ever counted how many Enterprise crew members died during the five-year mission by going through every TOS/TAS episode, novel, comic and video game?

I think I tried to do something like that many years ago and found that if you count everyone who died in TOS plus everyone who died in the Errand of Vengeance trilogy you already get more than the 94 deaths claimed by the TMP novelization.

It would be difficult to count, especially with people seen dead first and alive later.

However, we can use that to reconcile the 94 number - people who died during the 5YM may simply have been revived at some point before 2273.

James Dixon, until his "retirement" around the start of Star Trek: Enterprise's third season, kept a comprehensive list of every Enterprise crewmember who appeared on TV/movies/novels, including those who died during the FYM. I have a copy and it runs about twenty-two pages depending upon the font size you use.

When Geocities was wound down in 2009, oocities preserved my chart of crew members from TOS/TAS plus the two Pocket "lower decks" trilogies, and the "Crucible" trilogy. If you do a word search of the term "dies", you will get all of the casualties.

This was an appearance chart for the so-called "lower decks" Star Trek: The Original Series novel trilogies that Pocket Books experimented with in 2002, in hope of "rebooting" their novel series with more prominent roles for many recurring TOS characters, in adventures set between various episodes.

Nice list, but it doesn't record the deaths of unnamed crewmembers. River of Blood page 2 mentions thirteen unnamed security officers dying in a battle with Orions.
