How long do you think the Trekbbs will last

There are some members who have been here ten years or more. Do you think that the board will last long enough for someone to celebrate 20th anniversary? How long do you hope it will last for?

I have no doubt whatsoever that many of us will be here for Star Trek's 50th birthday in six years time. I am hoping I am still posting here after my kids have placed me in the old folk's home. I will probably be a bit grumpier than I am now.

I'm betting when T'Bonz retires, her daughter will take up the mantle of admin-hood and continue running the joint. So it will pass from mother to daughter through generations.

^ Like the Bene Gesserit? I can see it.

I think the future of the board will depend upon the future of Internet in general. Who knows how the net will be in ten years?

Also, there is the question of what it will be of Star Trek: will the new movie spawn a series of movies? A new tv series down the road? Maybe something animated? Or even the takeover of web-series? Hard to tell. Star Trek showed to be a resilient franchise.

I think it will be -- although perhaps in another form. Websites as a whole are losing ground to apps, be they actual applications on devices like iOS or Android, or web-based systems like Facebook. But in whatever form, I think TrekBBS will survive -- even if it's loaded with a bunch of old farts and filled with ads for Star Trek branded Depends. :)

As long as the internet I guess, or this form of the internet or whatever. I see no reason why this "community" should just disappear for no reason.

The Carter Catastrophe argument gives an estimate of 95% probability that the TrekBBS will not last more than 200 years in total if it has already lasted 10 years. ;)

I hope it stays around for a considerable time. I'd really miss everyone if and when it goes. I know I've been here only a fraction of the time many of you have, but I'm extremely glad I joined. I really enjoy "being" here, and just seeing all the familiar names and avatars, even for those people I rarely talk to or those I've argued with - it's something I appreciate. I mean, I'm here almost daily- a significant part of my life now takes place here.

I'd certainly remember everyone fondly when I/they/the BBS goes.

Unfortunately, no one can tell you what MadBaggins is...you have to see it for yourself.

seriously though, I have always suspected that this MB is the latest iteration of a previous MB...that is, MajorBarcalow. And I don't think I have to remind anyone about him, do I?

Hmm, I did a quick search about "MadBaggins" and well....lets just say I understand lol!

I love how theres always points in a webforums history that stand out, anyone got anymore that TrekBBS might be remembered for?

Unfortunately I joined when the only "happening" thing was the TOS forum spam (and the posters persistence)

Oh, there's lots...

- The Christmas Massacre

- Various pirate invasions

- Orange Halloween skin

- ELECTRICAL SUPERSTORMS!

- TrekTonight

And some that are still going on today, such as Blue Warp Nacelles?, Shouting Spock, Facts about Captain Robau...

I've heard about this TrekTonight, is there still a record of it anywhere? I'd really like to check it out
