That is good news. The Federation is not, nor should it ever be, evil. Optimism and hope for redemption are the very core of what Star Trek is all about. And a government like the Federation - while not perfect, since no government ever is - can still be a force for good. I'm definitely intrigued by a line that Picard will apparently say in a future episode... Spoiler "I made the perfect the enemy of the good." I wonder what he means by that. And I also highly doubt that, however the Federation is portrayed in PIC, that it will have anything to do with the future of DSC. They're separate shows, they don't have to have anything to do with one another.
