How important is for Picard to save the soul of the Federation?

That is good news. The Federation is not, nor should it ever be, evil. Optimism and hope for redemption are the very core of what Star Trek is all about. And a government like the Federation - while not perfect, since no government ever is - can still be a force for good.

I'm definitely intrigued by a line that Picard will apparently say in a future episode...

"I made the perfect the enemy of the good."

I wonder what he means by that.

And I also highly doubt that, however the Federation is portrayed in PIC, that it will have anything to do with the future of DSC. They're separate shows, they don't have to have anything to do with one another.

    I think it means
    Code:
    Vote Biden

    Jason

I have no idea how to make spoiler codes so I don't know if that worked or not. Can anyone else see what I posted?

If you want to put something in true spoilercode, you have to put "spoiler" (in brackets) before it, and "/spoiler" (also in brackets) after. (Don't actually use the quotation marks.)

That way, whatever you're trying to spoil will only appear if a viewer actively clicks on it. The link that you posted will always be visible to anyone who reads the message.

    ^ That worked.

When a viewer clicks on that box, they will see "Code: Hot pockets". I don't know where the "Code:" comes from, but the basic thrust of the gist is the same. You only see the spoiler if you click on the box. So in the end, it's all good.

Here's a better way to put it. Replace the < and > (in the upcoming example) with a [ and a ] , and you''ll have it.

    <spoiler> Hot pockets </spoiler>

The Federation and Picard could have a falling out and the Federation does not have to be evil for that to happen. Maybe the Federation made a bad decision during the Romulan crisis and Picard disagreed with it.

Pretty sure that is exactly what happened. Picard resigned over Starfleets response to the Romulan Crises and now Starfleet resents Picard for bailing on them. Also I think the Federation will be an obstacle in that Picard may have to do things against the law to achieve his mission and they may send someone to retrieve him. However I think when it counts Starfleet is going to come to rescue. Something like the La Sirena is fleeing from Synth ships, taking a lot of damage and just as their goose is about to be cooked we see a starfleet ship swoop in and take the disruptor hit meant for the La Sirena. A few more Starfleet ships drop out of warp and cover the La Sirena as it makes its escape. A man can dream :D

Maybe Picard made the bad decision and now regrets it

Everything indicates that Picard is bitter towards the Federation, not regretful towards them, I think the only he would regret is not following his own moral compass sooner.

Stewart has made clear in some of his interviews that although Picard totally views himself as being in the right, in reality he made some errors of judgement. We shouldn't jump to the conclusion that Picard is saving the soul of the Federation. He might be saving his own soul.

Really don't care - just hope it's as good as I hope it will be.

    Optimistic, dystopian, whatever...

Well, both Picard and the Federation could have made mistakes that led to their falling out, but it does seem like Picard is not forgiving towards the Federation nowadays. That may not make the Federation evil, but that doesn't seem make them be in the right either.

Maybe in the final episode of 'Picard', Jean-Luc becomes the president, king, overlord, majesty and etc of the Federation.

IIRC Picard eventually says something like
"I made the perfect the enemy of the good." It seems to imply that he realizes in retrospect it would have been better for him to keep fighting within Starfleet for better policy than be a morally pure upright individual outside of Starfleet.

A reminder that this thread isn't spoiler-tagged. I've added the coding.
