How I Met Your Mother Renewed For TWO More Seasons

That's great we'll have 2 more seasons which will be a total of 8 seasons.

By the look of the kids, they would be in early or late teens and would been born in the early 2010's...my guess would be 2014. I wonder, perhaps they are twins...I thought of that before. They both almost looked to be the same age or perhaps a year and a half apart if not twins.

Yeah the daughter is played by Lyndsy Fonseca, and she's currently 24 years old. That makes her about 18 when she filmed her scenes, though I could buy her being a few years younger.

The actor who plays the son is three years younger.

Either way, Ted needs to meet this woman soon.

I would dearly LOVE for the actress who plays the wife be Lyndsy Fonseca.

Yeah. The actress who played the daughter while younger (all the footage they use is in the can) should also play the mother (now that she's older).

That would be SPIFF.

I love the show, but I'm not happy with this news. I don't want this dragged out for two more years. I was hoping that this year or the next would be the last. And I think it will end with Ted meeting the mother. It has to. That's what everything is building up to. If they do introduce her earlier, I can see them doing some twist where we don't find out until the end that whoever they brought in was the mother all along.

I agree. I like the show; it's the only sitcom I watch on a regular basis. But it's really running out of ideas--particularly with Barney and Robin; there's not a lot more they can with them. Plus, let's face it, Ted is the least interesting person on the show. They need to really shake things up if they are going to do two more years.

Yeah. It's still watchable but I'm not sure they can last another two seasons. Hopefully they'll use this as a "definite end" date and start building toward the show's finale.

Very cool news. I love this show and find each season has been really unique and incredible. At this point I have given myself completely over to the writers/actors/director and am just enjoying the ride.

BTW...what happens to Ted in the next fifteen to twenty years that makes him start sounding like Bob Sagat? According to the HIMYM wiki, Ted was born in 1978, making him at least 32 at this point in the show. What makes someone's voice change that much as an adult?

Wait, wait, wait... so the premise is that Bob Saget's been telling his Kids "Hey, kids, sit down while I tell you this simple story of how I met your mother."

And all this time, for 5 seasons worth of episodes, he hasn't even told them how they met?

They really gave zero thought to this premise as an 'ongoing'.

If I was his kid, I would have punched him by the 4th hour of him still not getting to the point.

They sort of address this.

Anyway, I hope they use this to have a target point to wind down the series. Just to make sure they know where they're going and don't drag it out too much (even if it is a sitcom, it has a legitimate continuity that should be respected, imo).

Hmm... using the daughter to play the mother is an interesting idea. Maybe a little creepy, but an interesting idea. After all, the Mother was in the first college class he was teaching, so she's definitely younger than him.

As for why he gets the Bob Saget voice... in the final year he has a horrible acid spill accident right down his throat...

I'm another person who would say I like this show (sometimes) but don't like this news. It's one of those shows that has really been around for way too long and is repeating itself a lot, sort of low on ideas. I (and I know a lot of other fans) were hoping it would wrap up soon before it becomes one of those shows like "The Simpsons" or "The Office" that sticks around way past its prime and makes its fans sad by turning into a hollow shell of its former self.

I never thought the show was that great in the first place, but it definitely had moments of greatness and a handful of episodes that I really loved (I was especially fond of the Robin & Barney story line, although I know some fans didn't like it). I also really like the cast and characters, I'm just getting tired of it now. I'll always have a lot of affection for Jason Segal and Alyson Hannigan (mostly due to their past work in other TV shows and movies), but they should move on to greener pastures instead of staying with this stale show.

Not necessarily. Lot of people over 30 including yours truly go back to school for various reasons.

It's worse than that.

A few episodes ago when Ted met Wendy the Waitress in the Hong Kong airport the onscreen graphic said 2021 but Ted still had Josh's voice.

Yeah they should have very lamely dubbed Saget's voice over him. That would have been hilarious
