How I Met Your Mother Renewed For TWO More Seasons

This is great news. One of the VERY few sitcoms on TV that is any good, and I've gotten into it a lot more recently.
I've not watched the show in a couple of seasons but have followed what has gone on...I would like it if we get to see who the Mom is. I'd like a season of her being introduced to Ted, him courting her, etc. Are there any fan theories to who she might be yet? Or has it been too vague to guess?

This is great news. I can never have enough HIMYM, but I'm hoping they don't hold off on revealing the mother until the end of this two years.
It will get cancelled and in the last episode it still won't be revealed who the mother is.
They keep giving hints, and a few of the theories have now been shot down, but no - it doesn't seem to be anyone that Ted has directly met yet. There's a How I Met Your Mother wiki article about The Mother with all the clues, potential mothers, et al. at this link.
I love the show, but I'm not happy with this news. I don't want this dragged out for two more years. I was hoping that this year or the next would be the last. And I think it will end with Ted meeting the mother. It has to. That's what everything is building up to. If they do introduce her earlier, I can see them doing some twist where we don't find out until the end that whoever they brought in was the mother all along.
I hate this show.
I really hope they go "After these two seasons the show will be ending", it will be the 7th season? That's a good time to end it. You can't drag it out forever, I mean it's already pretty ridiculous how long the story of how I met your mother is. Plus I REALLY hate NPH character on the show, but that shows just how great of an actor he is because in interviews he is awesome.

They introduced the mother's leg in the 100th episode I think.
This is the best sitcom on TV and it's really good news that it got two more years. I think they need to call it a day after that though. If they can somehow keep the quality up for two more years there's no way they can keep going much past that. 8 seasons sounds like plenty of HIMYM to me.
I agree. I like the show; it's the only sitcom I watch on a regular basis. But it's really running out of ideas--particularly with Barney and Robin; there's not a lot more they can with them. Plus, let's face it, Ted is the least interesting person on the show. They need to really shake things up if they are going to do two more years.
If I recall correctly, the extension was a foregone conclusion--the syndication contract they signed a couple of years back manadated they make at least eight seasons. This is just CBS fulfilling a contract.
Also, if I recall correctly, the creators have said Ted will meet the mother in the Season 6 finale. Odds are she will either hate him at first, or Ted will meet a dozen women and the spend the final two seasons narrowing his options down.

Wait, wait, wait... so the premise is that Bob Saget's been telling his Kids "Hey, kids, sit down while I tell you this simple story of how I met your mother."
And all this time, for 5 seasons worth of episodes, he hasn't even told them how they met?
They really gave zero thought to this premise as an 'ongoing'.

It's a sitcom.
These shows don't do things realistically. In real life, most fathers would tell their kids in five minutes unless they don't remember.
