How has your spouse responded to Star Trek?

^I guess we're both lucky to find a spouse and a girlfriend who are so tolerant and understanding of our geeky obsessions.

Isn't it amazing how our dogs can introduce us to random strangers that we actually share interests with?

That happened to my wife when she started taking our dog to a dog training school! She met a lot of other people interested in dogs and dog training.

:D

My wife has embraced it....

Mine too.

Awesome!

I was very lucky my girlfriend embraced Trek. She started watching TNG reruns on cable with me 8 yrs ago and liked it. Soon after, we watched all of DS9, VOY and ENT in their entirety.

The only problem is she hates (strong word, highly dislikes) TOS. I don't know why, but she will reluctantly watch the TOS movies with me, but has only watched a few eps.

Overall, I know there are many sig others that can't stand Trek, so I do know how lucky I am. (She even dressed as nuUhura to my nuKirk for Haloween!).

mine watches it with me...

she's a Voy fan though... but i can forgive her that lol

Mine has a huge fondness for DS9, likes Voyager to a degree, and really wants to watch TNG.

However, her biggest SF love is B5.

Yes people, I have struck gold. :D

Indeed. While mine loves all the Star Treks, various attempts to interest her in Babylon 5 have failed miserably.

What magic potion did you use, and can I have some?

Or was it just booze?

She struggled, as most, with season 1, but quickly got entangled in the plot and characters.

lol mine loves B5 as well... tips the scale for her Voy love

she's also a huge SG1 and Who fan... :D

I am not married so the question does not currently apply to me. One day, perhaps. yes, one day....We wil see but I would want any mate to share my interests long before getting hitched.

I met my wife at a small SF con, so I knew we had some interests in common... :techman:

She's not as big a fan as I am, but we watched DS9, Voyager, and B5 together. And I can always draw her into the room from whatever she's doing by putting on "A Piece of the Action".

Plus, she's encouraged my turning our daughters into Trek-lovers. I frequently find TOS or various "Fan Collective" DVDs in the machine. And for my last two birthdays, they've given me the Bridge and Transporter Room playsets, along with several action figures from the 2009 movie.

I am a lucky man! ;)

My wife grew up in a house where they liked Star Trek. We met in 1992 and she was more of a TNG fan than TOS. We started watching DS9 together when it premiered.
She never did care much for Voyager or Enterprise. Neither did I, but I still watched them anyway.

He likes it, but is nowhere near as obsessed as I am. I can work on him, though.;) It's a relatively new obsession for me, as I've only just started watching TOS and all of the films. Give it some time... he shall join me.

My wife despises any and all Sci-Fi. before we met she was forced to live with my sister-in-law and her husband (who is a fanatic on ANYTHING of the genre) and was force fed what he wanted to watch at the time, mostly Star Trek.
To this day she refuses to even watch any movie, TV show, or even scenes.
I get her back occassionaly by recognizing a star or guest star from an episode and will say Why that's ..(insert character played here...) just to get her riled. Or I will say why that saying is from STAR TREK!!!!..... :klingon:

:guffaw::guffaw::lol:

I can't say my wife is so anti-sci-fi, but it is frustrating as Hell when they don't get your interests. My wife will even make negative coments at times when I turn on Trek ("You're not going to subject me to that, are you?) I'll relinquish the set, at which point she'll turn on Kate Plus Eight, or Horders or something. Talk about frustrating!!:ack:
