See, before I started posting on Trek BBS, I had no idea there was so much hate for Voyager.

Anyway, I like Voyager, but DS9 is better.

Yes, I was kind of amazed, on another site, at how many people were actually positive about Voyager episodes, I guess you never know...

Likewise. I also had no idea how [fill in insult of choice here] I was for liking the show, or that I and my fellow Voyager fans should be sterilised "for the good of the human race" because I / we like Voyager. (And yes, the thread starter was completely serious about that viewpoint.)

The things one "learns" on the internet. :borg:

^ I was surprised of this as well! Personally, I don't see why people waste their energy on hating a tv show.

I like both shows for different reasons. They are both good in different ways.

Me, either. Nor do I get the whole "you're a fan (or not a fan, as the case may be) of [TV show / movie / whatever], therefore you are stupid / retarded / brainless / moronic / an imbecile etc etc" attitude. It's utterly stupid and just makes the people who express such attitudes look bigoted and dumb. The world would be an incredibly dull place if we all liked the same things. Vive la différence. :bolian:

^^ I'm not sure I'd say hating a TV show is a waste of energy in and of itself. Watching it after you've decided you hate it would be. However, I do think that harassing people for liking a show you don't like or not liking a show you do like is a complete waste of time and energy, not to mention rude. Taste in TV shows is so subjective. It can't possibly fall into a black and white right and wrong paradigm. As for people making death threats or talking about sterilizing people over their taste in TV, sounds to me like somebody with mental issues that have nothing to do with a show whatsoever.

^ Absolutely. Of all the things in the world to fight over or call somebody a moron over, what TV show they like is a pretty shallow concern.

Have you seen Fanboys? A movie were the Star Wars geeks go to war with the Star Trek geeks.

My problem is that I think the majority of the people love this show the wrong way.

I love them both. I've watched both DS9 and VOY from start to finish 3 times. In between I've rewatched many of my favorite eps many many times..

I always say I love DS9 for the plots and VOY for the characters. That's a generalization of course.

VOY has GREAT double eps! And humor, more humor than any other Trek. And my personal favorite character in all of Trek, 7 of 9.

DS9 has politics, story arcs and war. I love all that stuff.

I loved ENT too.. my least favorite Trek is TNG.

I don't advocate sterilising Voyager fans. It takes too long for an effect, we'd be waiting another 60 years or so for you all to die out. No, I advocate shooting Voyager fans point-blank in the head, that way the problem would be resolved in a matter of months! :D

So can I count on your vote in the next presidential election? :)

For the opposition, most certainly ;).

I've been to other Trek boards as well and spoken to other Trek fans about Trek in the past. VOY is not loathed as much "out there" (away from TrekBBS) as one thinks. TrekBBS skews Niner and TOS for favorite Trek shows. Always has since I've been here. I get the impression that the poster demographic here is a little bit older. VOY was kind of a popcorn action show. Lots of SFX, Seven of Nine for hot space babe, and space battles. Which is what I liked as a kid and still do to an extent. I was in my teens at the time VOY was airing. I thought TOS was stuffy and lame and DS9 too complicated to get into, when I was able to watch it. TrekBBS is kind of a thinking mans Trek site. Where people like to analyze and dissect every little thing about the shows and their stories. DS9, with its huge story arcs and character progression, and TOS, with its social commentaries, hold up well to that kind of analysis while the other shows might fall a little short for some people.

Well, to be fair TNG DID have its arcs. They were pretty much the testing grounds for the same writers who went on to DS9, to see how well they could pull it off.

Maybe VOY would have been better off if they just hired a totally new writing staff instead of taking in the ones who were leftover from TNG when the rest went to DS9. Hiring a new staff was what Berman wanted to do for ENT until UPN said no.

To show that the two fandoms can co-exist in peace. ;)

That was pretty cool. What's the wormhole-opening thing? I love the animation for the armor -- I think that was cooler than Endgame's animation.

i used to be a niner but converted to voyager, finally watching the many episodes i missed before. true, ds9 had great villains with kai winn, dukat, and weyoun, but the enemy dominion in general with it's rhino troopers who chanted 'victory is life' all the time, and the crowded space battles were quite odd.
voyager imo can boast the finest personality in star trek history, the doctor, #2 which is seven, the finest captain, the finest ship, and the most convincing story line. also, the at least 5 most outstanding star trek episodes are all voyager, i name 'living witness' as my all time favourite.

Nice destructions!

Are those ships using jump gates?
Looks that way. I didn't make it, of course.

I thought the same thing. I like how Voyager activates its armor and then rams one of the Birds of Prey.

I always appreciated Voyager above DS9. I just couldn't seem to click as well with the DS9 characters. It might have something to do with the fact that I began watching Voyager before DS9, but many years later, I am still of the opinion that Voyager was, by far, the superior show.

:)

I was into the series when it ran, and if it were on in non-cable syndication-as I was just wishing yesterday-I certainly would be tuning in to see those eps, so long now for me...but I prefer STV. I think DS had, like the other series, good characters, and memorable relationships, such as Julian and Miles, or Kira and Odo, and the father-son bond-echoed really in a real-life way between Avery and Cirroc, with Kassidy coming in later. And then there's Quark, and the ever-watchful Constable....or 'Plain, simple Garak' and the good doc....
