How come no one is working on the Star Trek sequel?

It really was Bob Orci (and friends) on Trekmovie.com way back during the filming of STXI - you can see them posting on the site on one the DVD extras! He also did some Q+A's after the film was released.

Trekmovie.com seems to allow people to post under whatever name they want. I don't know if Bob's got some sort of exclusive thing on posting using the name "Bob Orci" or not. I'd imagine there would have been dozens of Bob's posting all sorts of outrageous claims about STXII there by now if anyone could use the name.

TrekMovie has a strict policy on names (as I imagine TrekBBS does). All 'real name' posts are verified, so if you see BobOrci or Mike Okuda or Rick Sternbach, etc, etc...it is the real deal.

Anyone attempting to spoof real people is permabanned, no warning and posts are deleted. Really hasn't been a problem

bottom line, if you see something from Orci, it is real

Yes, if Bob is posting on TM it is really Bob Orci. Trekmovie is really the only site that they are know to post on.

I know of one other place where Orci is (or was) a registered member, but he's been a fairly regular presence in comment threads at TrekMovie (including a pretty lengthy Q&A session) at least since the movie went into general release in May of last year.

Greg, this should work as a direct link to the comment in question.

Thanks. Good to know.

Bob should post here. It's much cooler .

Then again, imgine the spamming he'd get from the OCD haters!

I can't imagine why they don't pop in here. :guffaw:

I guess we should be grateful they don't come here. They might be tempted to remove the borg from canon just to spite these people.

Bob Orci said on trekmovie.com a few weeks ago that he was reading Greg Cox's Eugenics Wars novels.
Sigh. Well now we have to decide who plays Khan? Sendhil Ramamurthy looks the part, but Naveen Andrews is a far better actor. Decisions, decisions...

The only way to find someone who could accurately portray Khan would be to create our own genetically engineered super-Sikh. Chop chop, science people!

I'm looking forward to a new film. I haven't enjoyed star trek this much since ds9 finished.

The writers had a story in mind but due to the internet fan base, they scrapped the whole idea and have now started plotting out an "All-Robau, all the time" story.

If they use Khan, it'll just go to show how monumentally talentless and unoriginal the clowns writing it really are.

The interesting thing about this is that they can't do TWoK because they haven't met yet. They would have to do some variant of Space Seed. Unless they can jam Space Seed and TWoK in one movie???

Oh, please. You might as well ban The Joker from Batman, Lex Luthor from Superman, the Klingons from Star Trek...and in fact just stop revisiting old tv shows and movies altogether. Problem: People want to see tv shows and films remade for the current generation.

Remaking stories has been around forever. Saying it's somehow wrong to do it with Star Trek is just nonsense, whether you personally like the new version or not. Wrath of Khan, although a classic, is dated. If Batman can battle the Joker again and again, Kirk can fight Khan again and again. Any criticisms should lie in the execution of the remake, not the concept itself.
