Houston becomes the largest city to elect openly gay mayor?

Oooh, I fumbled with a verb when typing in a different language than my own. How horrible, horrible of me. I will take your criticism seriously when you start writing in Italian. Now answer the question.

Whether something is intended to be ironic or not is immaterial. Whether you can communicate in a different language or not is immaterial. What is important is the subject at hand. With regard to this particular subject people are free to agree or not and vote accordingly. Do you have a problem with this?
You seem to have one set of guidelines for yourself, and another for homosexuals. Christ specifically said not to judge, and yet you do so perpetually. You are unrepentant for doing so. Isn't that hypocritical?

I'm not telling anyone how to live their life. If someone wants to be a homosexual that's up to them. I just won't vote for them.

Is there a "you will be assimilated" joke somewhere around here? :p

I commented on your claim that homosexual drive will decrease and eventually vanish if not supported or encouraged. Since society was adamantly anti-homosexual for at least the last two thousand years, and since there was plenty of gay people even in those dark times, it's clear that your claim was wrong.

Now, you can vote for whoever you want, for whatever reason you want. Doesn't mean we can't criticize you for that. Freedom of speech works both way. Do you have a problem with that?

Oh, I have no problem with you criticizing me for not voting for a particular person. Obama is a different sort of politician and I criticize people for voting for him. It works both ways and that's cool.

As far as the encouragement of homosexuality, there are enablers of this behavior, no matter what era. Out Greek friends for example.

And why were times so dark then?

I guess the lack of electrical power could be a clue. :p

In any event, the "enablers" weren't that effective in ancient times, since in many place you would be stoned to death (or beheaded, or whatever was the fashionable way of execution at the times) for screwing with another dude.

Yeah, damn those enablers!

What is it RJ always says- he thinks he's in the 21st century, but then he wakes up and we're still in the Dark Ages. :( Fortunately, the haters are going to start dying off.

Yesh, least the bigots are slowly, but steadily leaving.

Your kitty does not look too thrilled being dressed in that stuff. :p

Can you identify the "haters" for us please?

So you aren't judging others? Do you seriously expect anyone to believe that?

My vote in an election doesn't decide their ultimate fate. God does.

But believe what you will. I'm actually not concerned as I answer to a higher power.

People who hate gays and treat them like they have a mental illness, which they don't. People who actively discriminate against gays.

Want the short list?

In no particular order:
1: A sizable portion of Christians
2: Republicans
3: Right-Wing Conservatives
4: Nazis and Nazi wannabes (Least until Himler convinced Hitler, because Hitler had no problem with homosexuals, many of his own troopers were homosexuals, actually. Plus I keep wondering about Goering. )
5: Many people below the Mason-Nixon line
6: 90% of the Polish population in Detroit/Hamtramick (I've lived there and been visited there many times over the years, so I know what I'm talking about...and it's mainly the 35 and over crowds)
7: Jamica
8: Hardcore Muslims (Though how they are ok with man touching man, but not woman touching woman makes me wonder. :rommie: )
9: The Dubya adminstration
10: California, because, as one of my lesbian friends said a awhile ago, "If we can't get married in queer central, we're doomed."
11: ABC
12: Disney

And that's the abridged list. :p

^Whoa, hold it, I'm a Christian and I sure don't hate gays. Please don't lump us all in the same category!

I didn't realize that there was an election clause in "Judge not". You're still wallowing in your sin while chastising others for theirs.

Pretty much like this guy in the middle
political-pictures-nerdy-kids-win.jpg

And if you don't know this guy, he goes to big cities and makes huge and horrible anti gay rallies...to the point where people, gay or non gay, try to kick his ass, and he uses the money he gets from lawsuits to fund even MORE anti gay agendas. So, if you see this guy in your town, DON'T try to kick his ass, that's EXACTLY what he wants you to do, so don't play his game. Do what those 2 fellows did.

And to comment on those two dudes....
~clears throat~

PWN'ED!!!!! :D

They protested at the church down the street from mine, and at the local college (because they were performing the Laramie Project). Fortunately, people like that are very few.

If my child were a homosexual I would get them immediate psychological help. Would I love them any less? Of course not. Would I let them know the error of their ways? Of course.

Immediate psychological help? Oh, dear lord... Newsflash: the 1950s ended a while ago.

I'm just glad I have parents who are nothing like you. My sister was understandably a bit nervous about coming out to our parents, but she eventually did, and they accepted it without any difficulty. No crying, no shouting, no trying to make her heterosexual; they love her regardless of her orientation... just like any good parent should.

Yeah, damn those enablers!

It's quite simple: just look in a mirror.

TLS, I'd like to present you with a hypothetical scenario (and I stress, it's just hypothetical, so no answer like, "Oh, I know that's not true, so it would never happen", please):

You shuffle off this mortal coil and come face-to-face with the Almighty. He tells you that your attitude towards homosexuality was wrong, that being gay is not a sin or a mental disease or anything like that. How do you respond?

Oh, and as for the original topic of this thread -- good for Houston! :techman:

You do realize, it really isn't up to them.

Are you attracted to Asians? Mexicans? Fat chicks? Skinny chicks? Why? Why not?
