Holy sh*t!! Red Dwarf is back!!!!

On 1st August 2008 a link on the official Red Dwarf website strongly hinted at 'new Red Dwarf'. Robert Llewelyn revealed in an interview with Seattle based radio station KCTS9 on 24th August 2008 that BBC Worldwide, in collaboration with another party, have commissioned a new 1 hour red dwarf episode to be filmed in October 2008.

Ah hell yeah! back in the red! I hope this wraps up the series. I've been waiting a decade to find out what happened to Rimmer.

I'll believe it when I actually see it on TV with my own eyes. :D

I also have my doubts as to whether they can still bring the funny.

But... I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway!

(hope both Grant & Naylor are involved - the series was always best when the two of them co-wrote)

One hour? Just one hour?

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. Be nice though. I just pray its in-continuity and not a reboot like the proposed movie was.

Only 1 new hour of Red Dwarf is not smegging enough!

Also, could you provide a link to the source of your information, TC?

Like new Babylon 5, I'll believe this when I hold the DVD in my hand. But I'd gladly pay top dollar for that DVD. :techman:

So this means he's FINALLY given up on that whole movie idea? Thank goodness for that, I severely doubt dwarf humour would have translated well to the big screen, I mean just look at the mess they made with HHGttG.

Over at the boards at the offical site they are mentioning that it will be fully announced and contain more accurate information. They are hinting that there could be even bigger news.Maybe a full series?

Eh, the last few series were... bollocks. frankly. I just can't see them recapturing what made the old show work :(

Sorry, I just can't believe this just yet. Until I hear differently, it's an urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... It's an urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... It's an urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... ;)

They never gave up on hte movie, jsut each time they found financial backing, the investors pulled out, or in one case -- as I vaguely recall -- never had the money to begin with.

So... they'd rebuild the sets, set up new effects and models, hire back most or all of the original actors... and make one hour of new Red Dwarf? Color me skeptical.
