Dave was told that in 5 years time that he would find a wormhole into the past and then he would go back and Marry Kochanski by the newly wed Lister and Kochanski.
That would involve the use of old footage as they Forrest gump themselves into the old episode and they have to stamp out that other Kochanski who played the part in that episode...

It's clearly not new episodes from all the reports: it's a superior clips show, like the ones BBC2 has done for The Goodies, Allo Allo, The Frost Report... and other UKTV channels have done for Wogan and Jim'll Fix It.
Might be quite fun. But in no sense will it be season nine.
That's a shame, but it will be nice to see the band back together again in any capacity.

IIRC the 3 rumours that were right for season 4 were Rose returning, Davros returning and the Doctor's kid appearing.

I love that episode but I thought perhaps these events might have been wiped since they decided not to use time travel device in Season 7.
New material mixed with old material? Sounds suspiciously like the 'new' episode of 'Allo 'Allo! they did last year. René and co met up in the cafe and talked for a bit, reminscing, via flashbacks/clips, about their times together in the war.

Well, they've just missed the 20th anniversary of Series I. However, next year would be perfect for a 10 year reunion, since Series VIII ended in 1999.
Personally, I wish that the BBC would reconsider doing a proper Series IX. I mean, this show was the #1 show on BBC2 for years. How can they say no to a revival?
Or like in the final episode of Seinfeld, not that they already didn't do this in Justice... but if they were on trial for being dopey no hopers? that warrants clip after clip mixed in with new clips, as they try to justify their existence...

I figure that could already be addressed with all the time travel hoo-ha in "Time Slides." (After all, we already know that Rimmer's interference created an alternate timeline in which he didn't die with the rest of the Red Dwarf crew. Who knows what other minor changes it might have made to his & Lister's personal histories?)
The nanobots rebuilt his appendix when they made him a new arm at the end of season 7.

^ I don't think so. IIRC, the 1st time we heard about Lister getting his appendix removed was in "Thanks for the Memory" in Series II. (After Lister transferred some of his memories to Rimmer, Rimmer now remembered getting HIS appendix removed twice since Lister's implanted memories conflicted with his real memories.) The 2nd incident was in Series VI when Legion removed Lister's appendix in "Legion." Both of these are before Lister had his arm rebuilt by Kryten's nanites in "Nanarchy."
Alas, no, as the duplicate appendix removals happened in Season 2 and Season 6, so before the nanobots had a go at rebuilding Lister's body. A valiant attempt, though.
Me, I choose to believe that Lister had two appendices to begin with, as a result of being an incestuous freak of nature.
