Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

^ Very true. If this one lasts longer I might just cry haha. Idve gone to bed by now but I dont want the game to outlast me.

I feel bad for Turco and Nabokov right now. Aside from intermissions they havent really gotten breaks

^ Agreed. I really do hope that the Sharks win tonight. It would be nice to at least have one series go the full seven games. Besides, I really don't want the Stars to advance. ;)

I was the oppoiste :p So now I am happy. I hate both teams but I hate San Jose more so I went for the lesser of two evils

^ Well, I'm not a fan of either team but I just cannot stand the Stars.

Now that it's down to the Flyers & Pens in the East and the Red Rings & Stars in the West, I will definitely be rooting for whichever team from the East makes it to the finals.

I am probably going to go with the flyers from now on, but knowing my luck theyll be out this next round. Meh, as long as it isnt Detroit that wins Im a relatively happy camper.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I am severely disappointed right now. I went to a place that had the game on the big screen and it was just an amazing game to watch. The fans were into it, barely anyone left, and it was just a classic playoff game. Unfortunately one of the teams had to come up on the short end and that was the San Jose Sharks. Not only that, but it ends their season in very disappointed fashion. Turco and Nabby put on a clinic tonight and that power play to end the game was just heart breaking.

What sucks is there has been talk about Ron Wilson getting fired. Maybe he should, but nothing can take away from what these athletes did tonight. They put everything on the line and played with heart and heroism and showed what Sports should always be about. With networks like ESPN, all we get is bad news, and a lot of NFL coverage, and they tend to ignore hockey. To them and to anyone who says hockey is boring or they lost interest after the lockout, this game is what Sports is all about. Putting everything you have on the line for the sake of victory and agony of defeat. It really did put a whole new spin on the traditional handshake that the NHL does so well.

Well, everything that I had Sharks online is going away. I've been following this team all season, I was the only one to provide commentary in this thread about this team and it ends in heart breaking fashion this evening. God I wish we had a crying icon because that is how I feel right now. Until then, I'll just use this: :(:(:(

Habs should be ashamed of themselves. they have no one to blame but themselves for their lousy performance in the playoffs.
Bah, no one gives the Flyers any credit. ESPN is blaming Price for Montreal's loss and saying the Flyers got 'lucky.' I don't think luck alone causes a team to win in 5.

I didn't expect the Flyers to go this far, but they're really clicking right now. They can beat anybody. The Philly-Pitt series will be a doozy.

Rough way for the Sharks to lose. I remember the Philly-Pitt OT game in 2000. Elimination wasn't on the line, so I gave up and went to bed at midnight. To be eliminated after 4 OTs is tough.

I'm still having a bad day partly because of that. There are also a number of things on my mind that is all coming together and it's just really depressing.

I had a dream that the Penguins won game 1 by a score of 2-1, scoring with 4:30 left in regulation. I also dreamed that I set the kitchen of my parent's house on fire, so I really hope these dreams aren't predictive.

Having Detroit in the conference final is nice, it means the games are played early (for the west) and I can go to bed at a reasonable hour. :)

(Not that I *will*, but it's nice to be able to.)

^ It's not good for me though! I missed the game cause I wasnt home from work yet :(

Flyer's Timonen is out for the series

That's a terrible blow for Philly.

Aw fuck

Anyway, I thought this article was cool:

link

We've reached that point in the buildup to the Flyers' series with Pittsburgh where newspaper columnists take potshots at the other city.

Stuff like:

Our defining '70s film was Rocky. Pittsburgh had The Deer Hunter, half of which was set in a desolate, violent warscape and the other half of which was set in Vietnam.

But we're going to skip that tradition here. We're talking about Pittsburgh, that bridge-happy city on the other side of the state. We're talking about our neighbors. Taking cheap shots at Pittsburgh would be like picking a fight with your favorite cousin.

Think Pittsburgh and you think blue-collar, beer-drinking, salt-of-the-earth folk who are working hard to reinvent themselves in the post-industrial era. That makes you want to hang out with them and compare notes, not insult them.

These aren't Capitals fans, many of whom discovered their team the minute Alexander Ovechkin showed up.

Nor are they Canadiens fans, with their hockey hauteur, looking down their red noses at American fans.

They are Pittsburgh fans - a lot like us, only more polite.

The idea of an All-PA finale kicks ass

Philly's trying to call Pittsburgh violent!? :guffaw: :wtf: What is this? The Mirror Universe? Philly's got one of the worst violent crime rates in the country!
