Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

Lots of 5-on-4 hockey in this game - nearly half of the period. Flyers have done a good job (so far) on the penalty kill...I'm going to hold off posting this until this one is over.

Okay, period is over. Whew.

People have been dismissing Philly too easily, although I share the general enthusiasm for Ovechkin and the possibility of a deep run for a suddenly-exciting team.

Well, the Flyers won. Caps had a ton of giveaways, and Biron had some spectacular saves. Bah, I wish I could watch the next few games! Next one I can see is Game 6. :(

Cheer hard! The Preds need it after these last two games. I wish I could go to either game that is in Nashville this week but having a full case load at work prevents even thinking about it. Oh, well, I will watch at home!
Every time I cheer hard for a team it doesnt work :( Which is why i am cheering for random teams in the first round.
The Red Wings don't need the help.

AMEN! I hope that the Preds do better at home. I would like to see them make it past round one this year. Or, at least give the Wings a good run.

Law of averages finally caught up to the Habs. Good game, but the Bruins deserved the victory. I hope it means the Habs will regroup.

Blech. My Rangers lost in OT. The San Jose game looks to be team-defining. If Calgary carries the W, I think they will go far in the playoffs. It has to be tough to work off a 3-0 deficit in the first 3:20.

Yeah, I'm split on whether I'm rooting for the Flames or not, but good on them for that come-back (so far).

Good on the Flames. Though I am sure they won just prevent the rioting that was about occur in the first period.

It might have been last year's team that took that Ice tonight. They started out great, took Kipper out of the game, and then absolutely nothing. Calgary hit the Sharks where it hurt the most and the most troubling thing is the Sharks didn't hit back...literally. They weren't agressive out there. They weren't wanting to figuratively punch someone in the mouth for the hit (Which was a clean hit) on Marleau and it was another lackluster performence. I'm still waiting for the likes of Thornton, Mahalik, and Cheecho to get going. So far it's been the smaller players who have played their hearts out as well as Marlaeu. It's a 2-1 lead and Tuesday better be a much more agressive performence. If it's not, than I think the Sharks are done. That was embarassing to watch tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if Joseph started Game 4. Kipper might not like that, but you have to go with the Goalie that was pretty much perfect in the previous game.

Sarich's hit on Marleau *totally* turned the game around. I can't remember the last time I saw such a drastic flip -- I thought we were done before we winded the entire Sharks bench.

I didn't think we were playing bad to start off, and those three goals completely deflated me. What a win, I am so happy. :D

Here's the hit: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xPRWKOb7iV4 I can think of a few different players I'd rather have seen get smacked by that train. Ouch.

Hey, I am DBR, one of your few friends here.

Nice to meet you.

I'm actually a Canucks fan, being from Vancouver Island, but if there's one thing us Canuckers are good at, it's jumping onto another team's bandwagon when our team disappoints once again. Since I'm currently living in Calgary, it's almost a survival thing to just root for them and blend in. ;)

I have a friend who lives down on the Red Mile who isn't going to be getting a lot of sleep tonight.

And to think I saw the score (3-0 Sharks) on the sports news update and decided "Nah, not worth staying up for the rest of the game (I'm right outside Montreal)". Next time I'll use the DVR.

I dont want to help the Red Wings silly. Part of the reason why i am doing this is because the majority ofthe teams i dont like are the ones that are still in. San Jose, Anaheim, Montreal, Detroit and the list goes on. So random teams it is.

That was a great game for the Predators tonight. Now, they need to keep up the momentum.
