Highlander Reboot/Prequel Anticipation Thread

I was originally psyched when I first heard about plans for Endgame, but I was less than thrilled when they decided it was time for Connor to lose his head. I realize the idea was to pass the torch to Duncan, but they just as easily could've ended it with both of them still being alive and going off on their separate ways.

I actually liked the idea of COnnor fighting Duncan. But the way I would have structured it... was the set-up that Connor convincing Duncan to kill him to be more powerful to defeat Kell, but then when the Quickening happening, he sees that COnnor had ALREADY fought and beat Kell, but challenged Duncan because he was sick of living (having lost everything).

It would definitley foreshadow and even worse villain. (I would have also had Kell's numbers to have been fudged, with Kell having infiltrated the Watchers.

I think the only reason it retcons the source is because it was supposed to be present day and was filmed after the source.

Obv Joe is dead at this point in source canon

Also on Connors age, at least they didn't bring Kenny back from the series, how would they have got away with that?

Kenny would have to be a recast, but could definitley be done...however, you would have to kill him off in that movie, unless you shot something back to back.... or had added a part of the mythology that another sign of the Gathering about to happen is that Immortals start aging.

Hope we have more of that in this new one.

LIkewise, and if this movie is to be the start of a new series, it might be cool to feature a few characters from the show or at least name-drop them, like Darius, Xavier St. Cloud, Fitz, or dare I say it, even Duncan.

I kind of hope that most of the characters in the new movie aren't previously existing characters.
I don't want a straight remake of the original, I want a new take on the basic bones of it.

At least, that's how I feel today. Tomorrow maybe I'll contradict myself. ;)

That. While I have absolutely no problem with the idea that they are (likely) using the characters from the original film, I want to see that story from the context of being set in the 21st century and not 1986, along with the notion of fusing it with the TV show's premise that there are many immortals still out there.

Obviously, this idea would necessitate a somewhat different ending from the original, but I'd be happy with that. It allows for the notion of several more movies, with the Gathering still at some distant point in the future.
