Hey, I never noticed that before....

I just watched a clip of the end of "City on the Edge of Forever" and saw something I've never noticed in dozens of viewings since the 1970s: Spock shakes McCoy's hand vigorously when they're reunited (30 seconds in, just after Edith Keeler starts to cross the street):

Spock shakes McCoy's hand vigorously when they're reunited

It looks like they both forgot Edith briefly in their joy of seeing McCoy again. Remember, they didn't know when she would die exactly, so they figured they could just go home and problem solved. Kirk could say goodbye to Edith, say something about having to leave as he has a better job waiting for him somewhere far away (captain of the Enterprise almost 3 centuries later, but she doesn't need to know that) and go home, then look up her life and death in the ship's library, or ask the Guardian.

But now their reunion leads to him witnessing and even causing (and subsequently allowing) her death. Poor Kirk.

I wouldn't say that. Kirk tells Edith to stay right where she is before he rushes back to the Mission to find McCoy, so her safety was obviously still on Kirk's mind. It's not his fault that she was intrigued enough to follow him (and that she forgot to look both ways before crossing the street).

Speaking of City....something I don't get : McCoy runs past everyone in the landing party to jump through the Guardian. He never touches anyone. The next scene shows Scotty rubbing his neck like he just got clobbered by McCoy.

Apparently a McCoy-Scotty stunt shot got edited out of the final episode. Then, in a shot they left in, Doohan was still playing to it like Scotty had been injured.

In Tomorrow is Yesterday when Spock is telling Kirk about minor casualties, on the left side of the screen is the shadow of a small studio spotlight that is hanging from the rafters.

Amok Time. During the teaser when Kirk is talking to McCoy in the corridor outside Spock's quarters, watch how many times the same crewmembers walk back and forth, to and fro.

I think we were all more interested in seeing Kirk launch himself in front of them and Edith starting to cross the road while not keeping her eye on the truck coming towards her!

That brief moment of pure joy and friendship between Kirk, Spock and McCoy is actually hands down my favorite moment in the original Star Trek. Love it!

In "Return of the Archons" after Sulu is beamed up, McCoy is called to the transporter room and is shown walking in from the direction of the door, but we never hear the door open.

That kind of sound fx thing can possibly be a screwup in the DVD or Blu-ray edition rather than the original show. One of the worst examples is a missing utterance by Spock in "The Trouble with Tribbles."

Wink of an Eye....check out the shadow of a studio spotlight just above Scotty's head.

That's an Al Francis episode. He got promoted when Finnerman left; maybe his inexperience played into that shadow being there. It looks like a light standing on the floor, casting a shadow because another free-standing light is behind it.

As another poster on this forum has written before, "Another weird 3rd season occurrence."
