Why didn't the Gorn just bite Kirk when he had him in a death grip?

Why didn't the Gorn just bite Kirk when he had him in a death grip?

I face the creature the Metrons called a Gorn. Large, reptilian. Like most humans, I seem to have an instinctive revulsion to reptiles. I must fight to remember that this is an intelligent, highly advanced individual, the Captain of a starship, like myself, undoubtedly a dangerously clever opponent.
What, you assume the Gorn just bite people willy-nilly? That they're carnivorous? Why, that's the most Gornist thing I've ever heard! Check your privilege, hew-mon.Why didn't the Gorn just bite Kirk when he had him in a death grip?

Hear, hear! The Federation is no more than a 'homo sapiens' only club. Present company excepted, of course. What, you assume the Gorn just bite people willy-nilly? That they're carnivorous? Why, that's the most Gornist thing I've ever heard! Check your privilege, hew-mon.![]()

"Mudd's Women."
Here's Farrell showing Magda how to work a communicator, no doubt one she convinces him to part with and the one she gives Harry later to contact the miners.

Here's my latest "never noticed before," - "The Lights of Zetar" is actually good. After some Zetarian-related comments in the psychedelia thread, I decided to watch LOZ last night for the first time in years and was struck by the fact that it was well-paced, well-acted, and pretty well-written to boot. Not without flaws, of course, but good. I was surprised. Also, it had one of the few Sulu-in-the-Captain's-chair moments in TOS, which I had completely forgotten. It also features all eight regulars (which very few eps do) and may also contain the only dialogue ever exchanged between Scotty and Chapel.
True, that. Dialog exchange:In a Private Little War, Scotty interrupts Chapel's meek attempt to revive Spock by slapping him, with a "Here now, what are you doing?", restraining her, then, M'Benga steps in to give Spock some real nice, hard 'Vulcan Recovery Belts' .....
Maybe already mentioned, dunno.
"The Man Trap."

Also, you can see a couple of crewmen, one of whom is the "Bobby" who Uhura asks to look at her rattling door later, standing around in the background waiting for a turbolift. I guess the elevators weren't always ready to go!
http://tos.trekcore.com/hd/albums/1x01-2-hd/themantraphd381.j\/QUOTE] A real good look at the 'status lights' by the lift doors- that actually got used, what, once? twice maybe? Not at all???
Yeah, been a while since I've seen that one....True, that. Dialog exchange:
CHAPEL: Hit you? No! I can't
SPOCK: Blast you, strike me! If I don't regain consciousness soon, it may be too late. Hit me. (she slaps his face) Harder!
(She does, with tears in her eyes.)
SPOCK: Again. Continue. The pain will help me to consciousness.
SCOTT: (running in and dragging her away) What are you doing, woman?
CHAPEL: Leave me alone!
SCOTT: Have you gone daft?
CHAPEL: Mister Spock needs me! Let go!
(M'Benga rushes in and helps Spock to sit up before giving him some pretty vicious hits across the face. Scott stares, astonished. Finally Spock grabs M'Benga's arm.)
SPOCK: That will be quite enough. Thank you, doctor.

Good catch! I certainly never noticed the red and green lights before, on your right coming out of the elevator.http://tos.trekcore.com/hd/albums/1x01-2-hd/themantraphd381.jpg

Ah, that's right! Thanks and good catch. It occurred to me that they might have said something to each other in The Enterprise Incident too. Amok Time would be another one with good fodder for interaction between them except that Scotty is IIRC not in it. Bizarrely. I don't think he's in either "Vulcan-centric" episode of S2 at all.In a Private Little War, Scotty interrupts Chapel's meek attempt to revive Spock by slapping him, with a "Here now, what are you doing?", restraining her, then, M'Benga steps in to give Spock some real nice, hard 'Vulcan Recovery Belts' .....
In EI, she's just there in Sick Bay, when he walks in, and sees Kirk with the pointed ears..Ah, that's right! Thanks and good catch.
