Hey, I never noticed that before....

Different transporter room?

For what it's worth, the TAS episode "The Terratin Incident" had the following line:
"KIRK: Get a crew down to Transporter Room Three. We have twenty minutes left while we can still operate transporter controls."

And in "The Galileo Seven" (the only time a plural is used for the transporter in TOS):
"KIRK: Are the transporters beaming up yet?"

(I think the Transporter Room Three" reference in "The Terratin Incident" predates Franz Joseph's Booket of General Plans by a little bit--and would have been after The Making of Star Trek book, of course. .

Rewatching the Blu-Rays on a 100 inch screen. Should be able to contribute a few.

(Mods : just logged on to the mobile site for the first time...so nice to be able to watch an episode and put a post up via the phone...thanks and well done on the upgrade).

The Apple : Kirk's green wrap gets smeared with red makeup as the captain brawls with the villagers towards the end.

Mirror Mirror : Instead of antique surgical instruments, Mirror Bones adorns the walls with guns.

Gamesters : in the rough beamdown at the start where Kirk is on his back, the Captain snaps the grille almost off his communicator. It's replaced by the next closeup where he calls the ship.

Obsession : outside his quarters there's a sign next to the door :

GARROVICK
ENSIGN

Also some details on the anti-grav unit I just noticed :
ANTI-GRAV 57,000 g KG

And on Kirk's red device attached to the anti-grav there are some markings :

ki £
tg 64

Actually, the signage outside Garrovick's quarters in "Obsession" reads:

DAVID GARROVICK
ENSIGN

I've been seeing that for years in SD, on flat screen at least. And I'm pretty sure I even noticed it on the old CRT sets.

Oddly, there doesn't seem to be any mention of the accident at herocomm .

Paradise Syndrome :

On the wall of Kirok's hut hangs a shield with an etching on it of a figure raising his arms Kirok-style. Nice touch!

During the "my poor bairns" scene in engineering, someone seems to be smoking just near Scotty...or maybe it was supposed to be the engines smoking after Spock pushed them too hard?

Kirk's sideburns seem to alternate between starfleet pointy and rectangular all through the show.

No they don't. What I've noticed is that you can see his actual pointed sideburns through the falsies, in strong light. And even so, they were a great touch. I also think his hair is adjusted during the episode to look longer after he's been ashore for a few weeks.

Kirk was supposed to have been living with the Indian people for eight months or more so his hair being longer would have occurred especially in a sun drenched forest location!

Nope! Zac's right! It will take The Enterprise some 59 days to reach the planet and that the asteroid will be right behind them all the way! 59 days is all but eight weeks which is virtually two months!

Does sunlight and/or local flora affect hair growth?;)

If the Enterprise can manage even one tenth impulse she can easily outrace the asteroid. Natural objects in space don't travel very fast (astronomically speaking) and one tenth of light is pretty damned fast in comparison.

MCCOY: "You've been trying to do that ever since we started back to that planet--fifty eight days."

SPOCK: "I'm aware of that, Doctor. I'm also aware when we arrive at the planet, we'll have barely four hours to effect rescue. I believe those symbols are the key."

I'm not disputing the amount of time passage, but the fact the ship can only just stay ahead of the asteroid. If it needed warp speed to get out to the asteroid then that sucker is really a long ways off.

The ship can only go at the speed of plot.
