Hey, I never noticed that before....

“The Cage”

I'm not sure if I ever noticed that the bespectacled Transporter Chief is using a 20th Century pen there.

As everybody knows, "The Alternative Factor" was behind schedule because John Drew Barrymore abandoned the Lazarus role and had to be replaced. I wonder if this shot was filmed by a second unit while Shatner and Nimoy filmed another scene at the same time. That could have made up some lost time if they had the money and a second unit director available.

There's nothing in the daily production reports that indicates they did this. But, I'll be writing about the filming of the episode soon... :)

Barrymore was actually fined by an actors hearing for his unprofessional behaviour and both Charlton Heston and Ricardo Montalban were on the board that judged the case!

One thing odd to notice watching now in HD is how easy the walls and floor get marked up in several episodes. It's almost like they used chalk on the floor. There's always black marks on it.

When Heston heard what had happened, he turned to Barrymore and said, "You son of a b!tch"
And Montalban said, "You never bothered to call the studio and check on it's progress!"

Hey, the actors need to know where to stand during a scene. That's where the phrase "Be sure to hit your Mark(s)..." comes from ;)

Most productions, when on hard or carpeted floors, will even use different colors of tape for each actor, so they don't mistake each other's marks.

Not a visual but it has dawned on me that everyone who commands a Constitution class ship seems to be a commodore, except Kirk. The man saves the universe every week, and you can't spring for a promotion?

Well considering the Valiant had been missing for more than two hundred years then we can assume that he is a future nerd and as for Starfleet, that won't be mentioned for another twenty odd episodes!

'Day of the Dove'.......Chekov is being tortured. Kirk is restrained by two Klingons. As McCoy says "You can't hand over the Enterprise!" one of the Klingon guards is behind his right shoulder. A quick cut to Kirk and the same Klingon is now restraining Kirk's right side.
